Erm this was in 2.0.4, so like when you got a PM it displayed it as so on the main forum view in a frame!

Today i got a PM, and the My Assistant popped up displaying it? is their a way to switch back to the old style.
as i dont like it this way :( e.g. through admin CP or UCP

I love the new way, and no I don't believe it's possible to change it back to the old way unless you modify the code and the skin.

Hmm my test board (that I and I alone use) haven't tested that yet... although I agree with the first BHX... I don't like popups at all and have them disabled as far as I can... thru IE and other external popup blockers. If the MyAssistant is still a popup window, then it's not going to work for me and I'll be quite upset.

I prefer the inline view of PM's... giving you the notice and the first sentence or two of the PM. That was the best way IMHO.

The new way (at least for me) is a virtual pop up window. Meaning that pop-up blockers *shouldn't* stop them.

It takes a little getting used to, but I like the MyAssistant method better. If you have unread PM's, you can click the "MyAssistant" and cycle through them, even if you got the notice(pop up) a few pages earlier. The old style, if you missed it, then you missed it and that's it.

then maybe members should be given the choice of how they wich to be informed, and also have the old style updated so that it shows UNTIL it has been read...

+1 :)

I think the members should be glad to get notified at all :-"

 In all seriousness, the new way is better. Makes the older way seem chaotic.

That's why I call them virtual Pop-ups.

Although from the source I read, it's possible for it to try to make a real pop-up, at least if the virtual one wouldn't work. But then I could have misread it so I dunno.
