Aaaaannnnd I just found what seems to be the issue. The addresses that don't work have two-letter state abbreviations instead of the full state name. If I edit their address and select from the drop-down, all is well.
I'd love to proactively find and fix for members but at least I now know what to tell them.

Think I found the app causing the error. Seems like I can toggle the error on/off. Will locate the maintainer and see if there's an update.

Scrolling back in the support topics here I found someone had a similar problem and there was a reference to custom FURLS. I am not aware that I set any but just in case a plugin did I tried reverting a single FURL (/calendar/) and that seemed to have cleared this up.

Well I managed to somehow bumble my way through and get it working. For the Forum issue I used the Custom option and inserted the forum slug (e.g., 62-contact-form-feedback) as a hidden form field and lo, a post was created. Mark as solved 🙂
