Posted February 7Feb 7 Hi there,Is IPS\gallery\modules\front\gallery\submit; extendable?I can edit submit.php and get my desired results but extending chooseContainerForm does nothing, cant even log an error...Thanks. Edited February 7Feb 7 by h_ybrid
February 7Feb 7 Community Expert Which version are you using? You can extend it through hooks on v4.It's impossible on v5 since hooks were removed.
February 7Feb 7 Author V5.Whoop.Is there any way to control gallery uploads? I want to restrict categories for different groups/ppl.Side Q, how is this done in v5 in general? Or you have to build on top basically and cant edit any current function?Thank you! Edited February 7Feb 7 by h_ybrid
February 7Feb 7 Community Expert You can edit the category permissions to control who can upload images. You can use secondary groups to restrict it to only some members. Other than that, not sure.
February 7Feb 7 Author Well wasted a few days on this and $200.No hooks means I cant make the changes I need, it doesn't seem possible at all. It's obvious the way the tide is flowing here. Easy cancel. Take my 3k a year over there. Edited February 7Feb 7 by h_ybrid
February 7Feb 7 Community Expert What kind of restrictions do you want to implement exactly? Maybe there's another way. 🙄
February 7Feb 7 Author You can edit the category permissions to control who can upload images. You can use secondary groups to restrict it to only some members. Other than that, not sure.Well id hoped but removing hooks seems to have left a void.Been like 2 days and I'm like ok, why cant I do that, I could do that, now you wont let me or provide no workaround. If I overcome this issue there will be another, seems pretty dumb to me but hey.Hook removal is sold as modernization, but it is clearly much more limited. February 7Feb 7 Author Ultimately, when a user uploads images, they see a list of categories; I want to limit what categories a user can upload to.With hooks it was possible, now it isn't.But hey, we are modern now. Edited February 7Feb 7 by h_ybrid
February 7Feb 7 Well id hoped but removing hooks seems to have left a void.Removing hooks doesn't mean that IC5 isn't extensible at all.You can still use Extensions like in IPS4 and Listeners to modify the logic in the code. https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/devblog/blog/introducing-invision-community-5s-development-tools-r7/ https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/devblog/blog/ic5-introduction-to-listeners-r8/
February 7Feb 7 Author In this case neither offer a solution, there is no listener for this situation. But there was a hook ;) Removing hooks doesn't mean that IC5 isn't extensible at all.You can still use Extensions like in IPS4 and Listeners to modify the logic in the code.https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/devblog/blog/introducing-invision-community-5s-development-tools-r7/https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/devblog/blog/ic5-introduction-to-listeners-r8/LOL the comments.
