Blocking all "+" in registration email addresses?

Is there any way to block all email addresses using a "+" in them at the time of registration? I have some spammers abusing that gmail capability.

I'm trying using a ban setting of "*+*" and it seems to work. Is there any reason that I shouldn't use that?

No reason. And in fact that would be the correct way to do so 🙂

The "+" feature isn't just for gmail, but with gmail, a.b.c@gmail.com = abc@gmail.com, ab.c = abc etc...

Is there a good way to deal with spammers moving the periods around in a single gmail email address to register lots of accounts with the same gmail address?
