Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
MichelleBCF Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I've been using PHP to send emails from my forum, but have been using a gmail address. For some reason this stopped working around the 7th December. To complicate matters, I don't have access to the server, as it's paid for by someone else, and she lets me host my forum on it. I have tried the support team, and they're having problems working out what's wrong. They have advised me to use SMTP instead.. but I have tried every combination of settings for this, and nothing seems to work. Can anyone tell me which SMTP settings should work please? Many thanks...
NTSU Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I believe you've gone through the basic SMTP settings which are abundantly available a Google search away. Perhaps your SMTP has been restricted? See this documentation: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2956491?hl=en I have a client who used to relay until their site caught malware and his SMTP was permanently restricted due to abuse.
Ausy Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 These work for our site using Gmail smtp.gmail.com SSL Port 465
MichelleBCF Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Thank you both - there are actually a few variations to be found when searching, so it took a bit of trial and error.. which is why I was asking if anyone knew specifically what worked with Invision. Plus yes, there did appear to be some sort of issue on the server side, which they sorted out for me. So we finally got there.
