Why can you only resize images in the editor on Firefox?

On Firefox I get handles around my images to resize them if I want, I do not get that option on Safari & Chrome. Does anyone know why? 

I know you can double click on an image, but it doesn't seem to let you make it bigger by doing that. 

Big plus for Firefox users. :(
