I turned on the storage system for approximately 30,000 post. How do I know at what point is the archiving progress?

Did you ever find out ? I just started the archive process myself for the first time and other than checking the table I assigned for the archive grow I don't have any way of knowing it is working. 

Also does it create a section for the archive posts ?

I don't know if there is a status thing for it but NO they do not have their own section. They are just made accessible but no longer active basically.
