How do I determine active users?

I'm trying to find a setting or stat that will let me see how active our forums actually are. For example ... how many distinct users have logged in within the past 30 days? I know where to find stats for new topics and posts, but I'm interested in capturing how many also log in and just read. Is that a stat that is easy to find?

This isn't available as a statistic but you can still figure it out in the ACP -> Members and click the cog wheel next to the search to bring up the advanced search then enter the dates you want to see.
