IP.Content Articles page migration 4.0

Hello all,

 

I first of all would like to thank anybody that attempt to help with this issue that been bugging me for days

So I'm, currently attempting a mock migration before doing the final thing on our forums, now i've come to the section of setting up the IP.Content blocks and pages ect as they did not migrate 100% correctly with the new 4.0 version, Here is a screenshot of our old version:

As you can see we used the article system to promote posts ect and then use the standard article block to display them in a grid like form, Now i've managed to kind of get the layout correct using the new 4.0 software but cannot seem to replicate anything similar to the above, please see the below screenshot:

I've achieved this through using the featured topics block which is set to pull from our category for news ect. But I cannot seem to find any options to set this to a grid like view, nor find any other custom blocks to do this. 

 

Any help or assistance in trying to bypass or rectify this issue would be most grateful.

So are these posts supposed to be articles coming from a IP.Content/Pages database or forum posts? Your description and the images don’t really make that clear. In the first images I see a typical IP.Content/Pages database page with articles, in the second image I see a block showing forum posts (“featured topics”).

Sorry I do apologise for being vague, So yeah it pulls forum posts in as specified catagory in the forums. The second image shows what i've managed to find so far which is the "featured topics" block

Nowhere close to being a finished site at the moment but as soon as I get done with it then you are welcome to the files to alter and change around if you want. I would let you have all the code now but its all over the place and needs cleaning up and there is still a lot to change out. The skin is fully responsive and uses the ips grid system so you can swap and change blocks out. The idea is to make a number of interchangeable blocks for my site so I can simply add and alter it when the need be. I have video blocks and countdown timers etc but they are still being worked on. The skin is pretty bare bones at the moment as I working on getting the CSS elements right.

That's really awesome, and I appreciate that you willing to give it to me(may be useful for one of my other future projects). The thing is I already have a skin which im planning to use, its mainly just the recent topics that im looking for and to implement into a block which pulls all the latest topics from a section with the post information, and a blurb around about 50 chars, Do you know one that can do this?

So looking through the pages, it seems the articles from my 3.X installation has been converted to a database. So i've decided to try and use a database feed for all my major announcements ect, but when i go to create a database feed im now getting the following under feed configuration?

 

 

Wont allow me to select anything under the Database section, just blank, Even when i've created a new database it shows this

 

Anbody any ideas?
