Upgrading with Developer's and Designer's Modes Enabled

Every time I upgrade, I run into some problems because I have both Developer's Mode and Designer's Mode enabled.  Most recently, I lost my custom CSS updates when I upgraded.

Can someone please suggest the correct order of steps to follow when upgrading with Developer's Mode and Designer's Mode enabled?

Thanks.

Here's the steps that seem to work for me:

  • In the AdminCP, select "Customization" / "Themes"
  • For each of the themes, click the down arrow and select "Advanced: Sync from File System"
  • Edit the constants.php file in the root folder and change IN_DEV to FALSE
  • Click the "System" icon in AdminCP then download and unzip the update.
  • Use your FTP client to upload the updated files.
  • Download the Developer Tools from https://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/7185-developer-tools/
  • Use your FTP client to upload the Developer Tools files.
  • Click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the "Upgrade IPS Community Suite" page.
  • Edit the constants.php file in the root folder and change IN_DEV to TRUE
