Another way to update language files?

When I want to update an existing language (via "Upload a new version"), does there another way exist to implement updated language files other than via AdminCP > Customization > Languages? I always see the "Processing..." circle, which never comes to an end. The result is that about 50% of any language file I use gets implemented – and the rest has to be translated all over again.
