Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 4, 201510 yr Hi all, I have been browsing and posting on various message boards since 2003. I even made one using Invisionfree back in the day! Haha. Regardless, it's been twelve years and my dream of owning a community with its own domain have been met (IPB is FANTASTIC software btw). I have been following and very eager towards IPB4.0 I have already made a backup of my databases for the forums in SQL format and saved as a zipped file just in case. I have ran into a problem though. How do I exactly run the UTF8 installer? I installed the UTF8 folder into my forum's root, and nothing seems to change.
March 4, 201510 yr Per the instructions, you upload the entire 'utf8convert folder to your site, then using a browser, go to domain.com/utf8convert/index.phpBut once you unzip the package, read the index.html page there for full directions. It can be done via browser if your database isn't huge, but a command-line version is also possible if your database is very large.
March 4, 201510 yr Author I don't know how I missed that. Thank you, it worked. EDIT: I converted the files, and am ready to install RC4.0...however, I get this page. How am I supposed to upgrade now? I would assume that I would put the RC4.0 install files in my forum root, and go to http://example.com/forum/admin/upgradehowever, when I attempt to go to that address, I get this. (The one below if my main forum domain) EDIT2: I attempted the conversion again, going with the longer method this time. It worked. You may close this now (:
