Participation in topics by mail

Hello,

Several of my users would very much like to have the oppotunity of participation in topics via mail - so they will receive all topics and replys by mail and be able to reply to topics/reply through mail as well.

We have been used to this feature at the community we used before (which as been altered so much, that we want to change platform), and therefore this is a quite important feature for our group.

Hope, that this could be a part of a future development :)

Kind regards,

Charlotte Rothenborg

Sounds neat, but ridiculously inefficient.

;) I tend to agree, but for some this is all that matters,,,, somehow they cannot get into a new habit such as checking an online community instead of only checking mails and answer this way...

Which one is better:

#1 To have a community where some/most of the members prefer to communicate through email.

#2 To have a community where some/most of the members do not communicate because the lack of email replies.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea... it's just inherently inefficient. You have to send an email for every post for every subscribed member. The math gets big really fast for an active forum. Lots of emails, which could just as well lead to mailserver problems, host limits, or even blacklists.

Not necessarily.

Once a day would be sufficient.

Unfortunately those problems are not my problems because I do not have the reply by email option.

Not IPS' problem because they don't even try to implement it.

Create the function, let me try and :

#1 I'll solve those problems.

#2 I'll quit. (Disable the function)
