Feature request: Split a post

[U2 Fan]

I'm absolutely desparate for a tool that would enable me to split a single post into two or more posts that can then be moved into different topics or forums as required.

(Note that I said "split a post", not "split a topic".)

I'm forever seeing members (particularly newbies) posting several different topics within just one post. What then typically happens is other members reply to each different topic within that post and you end up with an entire topic full of several different threads of conversation. This often means that key information is buried within topics with irrelevant topic titles.

Essentially, I would like to be able to duplicate an entire post (retaining the poster's details, post-count, and time-stamp, etc), then split each copy apart and edit them down to single points of discussion. I would also need the ability to give each new topic a title (if it ends up being the first post in a new topic).

To illustrate, look at the following (fictitious) example:

I spoke to my doctor about the vaccinations required for our work trip to India and he said we'll need all of these: Diphtheria - Tetanus - Polio - Hepatitis A - Typhoid Fever

Hey, this has just been announced... U2 are bringing the U2 360 Tour to Aussie and NZ later this year! Can't wait!! Who wants to go to the concert in Auckland with me??

BTW, I left my umbrella in the staff room the other day and I'm wondering if anyone has seen it? It's blue with white stripes. If found, please text me on 021-555-2940.

Posts like that frustrate the heck out of me. I'd want to split that up into three different posts, like this:

Maybe this could be achieved via a tool in the ACP that would simply enable you to "copy" a post and re-post it elsewhere? You'd then still have the original post that you could copy again (and again) if required. Each different copy of the original post could then be edited to break it down to a single point of discussion.

Too hard basket??
