Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Daren Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Hello, I was wondering if IPS Boards offer a option "Built-In" to allow users to pick Paid Subscriptions. I know vBulletin has a Subscription service built in that allows you to pick what kind of payment is allowed, and how much each item costs. I had a board that had the option for users to pay a Subscription Fee in order to view certain forum areas, etc. I need to know if this function is built in before buying- also, im not looking for the Post or thread type of subscription, im looking for Paid Suscription. Daren
Mat Barrie Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 It is, yes. It's the Subscriptions Manager component which comes with the software.

Awesome, so people choose from a subscription they want for a set number of a days/years.. And IPS will display how much each subscription is etc? Will IPS automatically give them VIP access once they have completed the payment? and will IPS automatically take thier VIP status away once there set time was up? Thank you, Daren
Alex Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Yeah it will, admins can setup what group a member is 'promoted' to upon purchase of their subscription, and it will move them back to the group they were in before after it expires.
RobertMidd Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 You setup the packages in the ACP and allocate a usergroup that a member will be moved into when they subscribe to a particular package. The duration can be weeks, months, years or never expires. When a member subscribes a package they are moved into the member group that is assigned to that package and then moved back to the original member group once this has expired.

Well, you just got yourself another customer!! Thank you so much for your help, im glad im getting this board now, cause vBulletin is pretty ghetto. =) Thanks, Daren!
Alex Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 And the fact IPB3 is just around the corner lol ;) Slight question, seeing the subscription manager is now a community project seemed to be run by Jason (according to Tracker anyway), will this be updated for IPB3?
Worldoversea Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 And the fact IPB3 is just around the corner lol ;) Slight question, seeing the subscription manager is now a community project seemed to be run by Jason (according to Tracker anyway), will this be updated for IPB3? Yes, I would also like to know since I'm using it more and more. It's not perfect and needs a few things (have a ticket open for it now) but please do not abandoned this. Thank you.
Morrigan Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 It will have its bugs fixed for 3.0 but otherwise its community updated from then on.
Digi Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Slight question, seeing the subscription manager is now a community project seemed to be run by Jason (according to Tracker anyway), will this be updated for IPB3? I think it will actually be released properly later as per the other community projects :P As for updated, I think that would be up to the community lead (cough you) to ensure, no? :P
Alex Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Lol, drop me in it, you *did* say you wanted to get involved with the community projects, here you go . Na, once we actually get given the code as a community project, then we can see about getting people to keep it updated.
