Feature Request : Fixed Maximum Image Sizes

I would like an ACP setting that sets the maximum image width or height (in pixels) which is set against both linked and attached/uploaded images - images greater than these values are converted to thumbnails.

These to be absolute settings not affected by resize percentages or screen resolution.

What happens to these?

The support people told me to place the request here - are they ever acknowledged and assigned a 'may do', 'will do' or 'wont do' status?
