Is there still a free version out there? I had one like 2 years ago, but I lost the whole database. So I was wondering if that version still exists to download?

If you downloaded IPB on or before September 27th, 2004, then yes, it's "free," for the most part. You can't download IPB 1.3 from, say, LimeWire, though, and use it. It's only legal and "free" if you got it from IPS themselves.
