Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted August 8, 200519 yr The merge-topics feature should be enhanced. Currently, even though I merge frequently, I get confused about which topic # survives the merge (the topic you paste into the text field or the topic from which you start the merge operation). Even if I weren't so flaky, there is still a problem with merges: Dead links. For example, if Topic #1 and Topic #2 merge, leaving only the combined Topic #1, any existing links to Topic #2 are now dead. To solve this problem, I suggest that, when merging topics, the system be able to create a shadow topic, just like it can do now for moved topics, using old Topic #2. That way, existing links to Topic #2, would direct users to the new combined topic. Does this make any sense, the way I'm describing it? What do you think? Matt, is there any way to get this into IPB 2.1?
