While browsing on the Internet, I found a vB forum having this neat feature: if a post is moved to the recycle bin, only the admins/mods/super mods and the thread starter have access to the respective thread. In this way, if the moderators feel more clarification is needed to determine if the subject is in violation of the posting guidelines, they can move it to recycle bin and still be able to communicate with the thread starter.

you can do this already, just set the permissions on the trash bin forum to allow for this.

No you can set it so the any group can. Not the topic starter.

me personally, wouldn't want the users seeing the mods discussing their deleted posts... lol

Probably another reason why a 'lock post' option is needed for the root admins.
