Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted October 28, 200420 yr Hi, if you know the phpBB system, you may also know that it has a MOD that will allow members to get points by posting messages, and also that admins can give them to users. Isn't this a nice option to put on IPB?
October 28, 200420 yr Hi, if you know the phpBB system, you may also know that it has a MOD that will allow members to get points by posting messages, and also that admins can give them to users. Isn't this a nice option to put on IPB?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is better suited for a modification however I would like to have users be able to rate posts (give posts points sort of) based on their usefulness.
October 28, 200420 yr I think both are good ideas, so may the staff can put them only for option in adminCP, you know, put points system on-of, allow members to rate posts etc.
October 30, 200420 yr This is one that would be nice, but is better left as a mod. The problem is that as far as I know, there is no official "global point system" for everyone to work off of. Everyone is basically trying to work with others that are already there. If someone were to make a global points mod, or if at least a standard method were use for calling on saving/loading profiles, then all someone would have to do is pick the points system they want, and then all mods that use points could just call on it with agreed on names, so it wouldn't matter how the points were stored or what other options/fields there were, so long as certain things remained constant. :)
November 1, 200420 yr Probably not but it would still be nice. Especially if it were to make adding mods (and for those that make them, writing the mods) a bit easier.
November 7, 200420 yr Points system is great! I ever visited a website, its forum members may qualify for free books if they have get enough points in that forum. Points they get may used for gifts certificates. :)
November 8, 200420 yr Point systems and rating mods/systems already exist.http://www.invisionize.com/
November 8, 200420 yr I like this idea better as default than the props (opposite of warn) system. It's more comprehensive.
