thanks for all the advice and ill ask for MySQL 8 update if possible. if not we will have to go with MariaDB 10 and take it from there. cheers, anthony

thanks for the fast reply jim, so your recommended option is 1 but 2 works fine ? 1. i will ask if possible to run MySQL but upgrade to v8 or higher. 2. if not possible optin 1 i will ask to migrate to MariaDB 10. when the DB is updated complet the update for our IVP forum. i will ask them to sort the tables out as well. thanks, anthony

hello IPS, we have our forum hosted with Informanik in Switzerland and our DB is MySQL version 5.6 and you recommend to upgrade to version 8 or higher for the next IVP update. Informanik recommend we migrate our MySQL 5.6 DB to MariaDB version 10, can we upgrade to that DB and have no problems with your update soon please ? I understand that MarieDB is recommended for for speed, but I don't know if IVP software is compatible because it is on MySQL. Or is there no difference between the two types of DB for our forum to function correctly ? Also our database has InnoDB Compact tables and we want to make them Dynamic if possible without worrying about memory space. Can you update it or tell me how to proceed please ? thank you for your help and attention, anthony
