Question about deleting bbcode

If you delete a bbcode, will it still work on the previous posts? I think it works this way with emoticons, doesn't it? I saw this somewhere, maybe language when deleting one.

I ask because I will be converting a large vB forum with some custom bbcode. I would like to delete those bbcodes but still have them work on old posts if possible. Thanks

They will work in old posts as long as those posts are cached. If you rebuild all the posts or clear the post cache after they're deleted, you'll lose it.

There might be a better solution to what you're wanting to do.

Thanks. I imagine I'd have to rebuild it at some point later on, so I welcome other solutions.
