Trash should not count as new topics!

I have a trash can set up, and unfortunately it still treats the trash as if it were a regular forum. For example, if I click on a persons mini profile card, and then click topics that they have started, the list is filled with trash can deleted posts which register as new topics. It's therefore difficult to get an accurate list of new topics.

Surely it would make sense for forums designated as trash cans to not show up in new topics hook, etc.

I posted this in the tracker but was told to post here instead. Also, I'm fully aware I can prune the trash whenever I want, but that's not exactly an ideal solution. :)
