Calendar moderation

There needs to be a way to moderate the calendar without having to look through every month to find some icon that shows a new event that needs to be approved. That is seriously weak. How about an event list of unapproved events in the admin front end, with the option to receive an email notice with a new event? Anything would be better almost.
