Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Guest Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I understand that this is probably way too big of a request to be making when you've already started development, but I think it is worthwhile anyway... It seems to me that with IPB being an inherently social platform, and with the profiles moving to a more customisable, user-based approach, that integrating Google's OpenSocial would be a very logical step for the software. It would allow forum admins and users to take advantage of a vast array of existing applications, that will continue to grow, without having to implement a new framework and API for doing so (as you have with profile tabs as they are now...)
Alex Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I've had experience with opensocial in the past, and its a hell of a nightmare to implement, has to be the least logical code I have ever seen. In it's current stage, I don't see the benefits of OpenSocial, its more hassle than its worth, I know it will grow, but theres more issues than benefits in its current state.
W13 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I don't know about OpenSocial, but IPB can definitely do with (OPTIONAL) more social-friendly profiles, etc.
