IPB3 suggestions

I have some ideas for ipb3, hope some of them will be taken to development :)

warning system:
I think that the current warning system is very primitive and alomst hasnt been changed since 1.x.
It must be upgraded!

1. Banned group - why is it there, if the banned user group isnt being automatically replaced to the banned group? I dont think there is someone that changes the user group to banned and then changes back when the user returns.

2. It could be nice to have the option of warning templates.
for example, i make a template with text and X% warn for spam, and every time that somebody is doing spam i give it to him, and thats it.

3. To have an option to set action for each X% warning.
for example, 50% is 1 day ban and 100% is ban for a week, and that will be automatically ofcaurse.

4. Be able to set the every warn will be removed after a specific time period.

some more ajax:

could ne nice..

1. when a topic is handled in a forum screen, it will be handled with ajax.
if its being deleted ot moved or something..could be nice.

2. when you use the hide thing for topics/posts/pms, again it will be with ajax.

3. I think that it will be nice if each post will have its own moderating options, without the need to mark it and then go to the bottom of the page to handle with it.

4. when a reply added with fast-reply, it will be added with ajax..

other:

1. I think it could be nice to have the option of adding member quotes during post writing.
I mean, if I'v started to write, and then I want to quote someone, to have an option or something..

2. posting pattern.
there are people who like to reply with bold text, or some colors etc.
it could be nice if each member can define the posting pattern he wants, and that will be for each post, with an option to cancel it. (something like: "[V] use post pattern")

if you want to use ones where you SUSPEND them create a new group called "suspended" and with that you can set the supension to be removed on a particular date[/b][/color]

i.e PORN or copyritten material you can class that as an instant ban and give them 100% warn straight away and thats it

[color="#FF0000"][b]^ this is a good idea as if you have a site with say 20,000 members and if even 10% has a warning thats still alot of people to over look and check warnings.

So maybe having a notice pop up saying "#usernamehere#'s warning is due to be removed today"

i dont really think having warn templates will go down to well as your posting a reason for the warn anyway
so you might aswel just say "warned for spamming" alot less hassle and im pretty sure
IPB arn't going to want to spend more time + code + energy to pretty much do what could be done in the first place with text

I do not like the idea of a reminder to lower people's warns. It's just stupid. Either it's done fully manually or fully automatically.

The current ban system does nothing. If a member does minor spam, you can only warn them 10%. If they flame someone you can only warn them 10%. If they make a racist comment you can only warn then 10%. You can only ever warn them 10%. We should be able to set a points value. We should also be able to make an infraction only be a warning, so it still records it, it still sends them a PM, and when you click on their warns it still shows up, but it dos not increase or decrease their warn level.
