Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Yeroslav Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 hmm here new ideas for the next Ip.board`s ...1. rss template2. locked topics not shows (default yes but admin can edit it and the member can change it at the footer page of the forum)3. category moderator4. add new group in moderating team from the admin5. member can`t see the admin login they will be got error because they aint admin`s6. admin lang files7. warn category ... when u warn somebody u can choose a type of warn [name+% warn also at report..]8. add more ajax's and and u could turn on/off specific ajax9. member can design his profile (also can move block`s etc...)10. on the index board when your mouse on member so u got mini profile 11. also in admin add more ajax and dom12. edit the home page.. add more possibility and quick options -> admin13. improve the ipb portal .. it`s very simple!what are u think about it?
Mark Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 1. Not sure what you mean by that2. That seems pretty pointless - if the admin wanted to handle it that way s/he could just delete said topics and make the trash can forum a public archive3. I agree with this - I can't believe it's not already available, actually4. Not sure what you mean by that5. I think the admin logins are handled seperatly from the board logins (if I'm correct board logins are handled by cookies and admin logins by more complicated 'sessions') so this wouldn't be that simple, and anyway I think it's a bad idea because what if I'm not logged onto the board? It would be annoying to have to go back and log into the board to get to the ACP. If guests could view the login, then members could just log out and see it. What is the harm in seeing a login screen anyway?6. I hope to God this is planned for 3.0 as I'm pretty sure it is.7. I would like to see the warning system improved - particularly with things like multi-moderation features and auto-punishments on certain warn levels8. Like?9. I agree. I know there might be security issues around certain features but giving users a profile kind of like the current blog layout system (with features for allowing users to create custom blocks, or use current blocks, or use the current tab API to use certain blocks as tabs and tabs as blocks) would be very cool.10. I would find that very annoying - though maybe the drop-down member menu in topics could be expanded to other areas11. Like?12. Not sure what you mean by that13. I don't know many people who use the IPB portal (albeit actually because it's so simple). I do vaguely remember when the portal was introduced (back in 1.x) the copyright said something like "IP Dynamic Lite" - so maybe (I'm just guessing) the portal was so simple because it was originally a light version of IP Dynamic. Now that product (at least how it was when IPB 1.x was about) has been dropped it would be possible to expand the portal....
atomicknight Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 5. What is the harm in seeing a login screen anyway?Well, that's not really correct. Both use sessions - it's just that the normal board login stores the session ID in a cookie while the ACP login stores the session ID in the URL/POSTDATA.But in any case, the ACP is already quite secure. Even if people can find it (which they shouldn't be able to since you have the option of changing where it resides), they won't be able to "break in." And besides, you can also add additional HTTP authentication, so that really shouldn't be an issue at all.
Mark Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 My point was they're handled separately - i.e. you can be logged into the board as one member and logged into the ACP as another.
Dr. Awesome Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 5.~You can remove the ACP login login link from the forum header via the Admin tab in the IPB ACP.~You can rename the Admin directory to make it harder to find. This can also be found under the Admin tab in the IPB ACP. So instead of www.yoursite.com/forum/admin it can be www.yoursite.com/forum/bananaman
WoLeRiNe` Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 7. warn category ... when u warn somebody u can choose a type of warn [name+% warn also at report..]I'm totally agree with.Because warn somebody for %30, need 3warn with %10. Annoying <_<

In fact I started a separate thread in support of expanding the IPB portal feature. One idea is just making bfarber's portal mod part of the one already built into IPB. That would be very easy!http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...0&p=1505579

Agree 100%2. Don't see the point of this really.3. Desperatly needed!!!!!4. /boggle?5. There are already numerous ways to protect the login screen (move it, httaccess). They can see the admin login all day long but they still can't log in with out the credentials. Seems more of an annoyance than anything else.6. Desperatly need.7. Make it an assignable percent or point system. I really do hate having to go through multiple clicking to add more warn levels.8. I really don't like this idea. Where do you want more AJAX? Do you like AJAX because it sounds cool?9. I liek the idea of being able to add and remove blocks that admin allows better than the other thread where it was suggested to give them access to add html to it.10. That would drive me insane. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE as an option.....11. Again where and what do you want to see it do. Specifics help a lot.12. ACP options on the board index? 13. I don't use it and plan on using Nexus with IPB. The current version seems kind of childish.
