I'd suggest a setteable feature "request change display name".
You should set which groups could allow/disallow changements requests..

Well, instead of allowing direct change display name, it'd warn groups allowed (like admin, modo) to allow/disallow new display name.

Currently I would suggest you that members simply PM the admin and s/he change it via ACP.
