Hi All, Short Story. 2 months ago a company approached me to set up a new community. I bought a good a domain name and I was about to buy a new IPS license, but the customer backed out in the last minute. Now I have an empty good domain and nothing else. I still think the project is interesting and possible if I can show the potential to other companies. I know I'm allowed to install a demo for any registered domain with IPS, but I was wondering if I'm allowed or I can install a IPS4 version in a complete different domain. I just got a paid subscription to Alexa.com. I need to paste their code into the <head> part of "all pages" of our site. That would include forums, pages, gallery, etc... Do I need to add that to certain templates, or can this be done using the meta-tags function in the Admin CP?

Hi all, We would like to implement the Q&A forum setting on some of our community's subforums. However, the replies are by default sorted by reputation/votes. We would like to have them sorted chronological by default. Any ideas on how to achieve this? I'm aware that the option is already available in the sorting menu. But we're really looking for a way to change the standard setting. Thanks in advance!

I have a multilingual site and one of the tricks I do to pull in language-specific blocks and images is to name them with the first two letters of the locale appended. For example, "my-image-en.png" and "my-image-eo.png". So I have been around since 2007 with IPS and seen many changes come and go. The question I have is where would you start to understand how to develop your own content/plugins for your own site and secondly where would you start when you want to understand pages and the capability it has with custom code. I know about php code and such but not fluent. Thanks for reading.

I'm trying to add a block to the sidebar which contains a currency exchange widget. I made the block and called it "currency-rates." Next I copied and pasted code from a currency exchange widget into the content portion of the block: Then I went to the home page of my site and expanded the sidebar tool and dragged the Pages => Custom Blocks thing into the right sidebar. I edited it, and selected "currency-rates." The I clicked "Finish Editing." But all I get is this: That's it. No currency rates displayed. I also tried this with a few other currency exchange widgets and had the same problem, there's just a link and again, no currency exchange data…

So when a user is on, I think after 15 mins they are counted as offline and stop showing up in the online users. Can I change this? I'd like to change it to an hour. My board actively has 20 users online at peak times, but the more the merrier. I don't mind going in to change settings as I remember reading about 'php trash collection' or something being the reason it is the way it is. Just when new people find my board, the more active it appears, the more likely they are to join, so I want to change this.

Hello, Currently the Classifieds app isn't compatible with the updated version, there is Sales Portal Pro, but not too sure about that. My classifieds section won't be a pay type situation, all members will handle transactions between themselves. Is there a way to create a simple classifieds with current apps? Am I missing another way to do this? Thanks!

Before I could upgrade mt 3.4 community to IPS4, I had to move to an upgraded server. Migration from one server to the other is totally on me and I have NO idea what I am doing. I have looked extensively for support pages on this, but nothing really lays it out. I am with godaddy and they will do it for $100 but it takes 7 days. Thats a long time to be down. Any help?

I wish to you use the ips.ui.alert in 'prompt' form. Typically, it looks something like this: It allows users to input some information before clicking 'ok'. Is there a list of tables that can not be imported into an IPS database? I've been trying for days to set up our site on a new server and importing the full database does not work. I've tried not importing the cache tables. I've searched for info on this and can't find that I shouldn't be able to import them all. I'm just stumped. Any help would be much appreciated. I am trying to reset up IPS 3.4.9 so that I can update to 4.1.12.1. My old server did not have the needed php 5.6.

I've added to and changed so much in my theme. My custom.css is hundreds of lines and I've got tens and tens of edits in the templates themselves. How can I maintain these edits while I update the theme? I heard something about an edits system that tells you what was changed or something- how can I use this?

I am trying to set up an additional member group, however when I do so the "social" tab only contains the "reputation" options section - the "profiles", "messages" and other areas are totally missing despite all being present in my existing member groups. When adding a new member group, how do I make these options appear in the 'social' tab for that group ?
