Posted Tuesday at 12:09 PM5 days Management Popular Post We're pleased to say that Invision Community 5.0.0 is now available to all customers. It's been a long journey, but we are now ready to support v5 as our primary release and offer our thanks to all of those who been involved in our beta testing program. What does this mean?We are currently in the soft release phase to help us manage the influx of feedback from those choosing to upgrade. We also have some new documentation to finish, and some website changes to make. If you're unsure what new features v5 brings, you can check out our "What's new in v5" page. Can I still use v4?Absolutely! And we would encourage you to plan your upgrade carefully. Version 5 is not a normal upgrade, it's a brand new platform with many significant changes including how themes are created, how widgets and blocks are managed and it comes with a brand new editor. We still be supporting v4 for quite some time with important bug fixes and security updates. What does the upgrade from v4 look like? It's important to know that any custom themes, applications and plug-ins will not work on version 5. These items are not deleted, but they are disabled. You will need to recreate any custom themes, and contact the authors of any third-party applications to see if they have updated versions ready to use.Upgrading for Invision Community Cloud CustomersYou will see a new section in your client area. Tuesday at 12:22 PM5 days Amazing news and congratulations to all! This is an incredible milestone and I look forward to what Invision Community brings in the future! This truly is the best community software on the market and all the dedication of your team, Matt. It does not and should not go unnoticed by your community (even the more outspoken ones).I have been on the ride since the very early days and I intend to stick around for many more years to come.
Tuesday at 12:46 PM5 days Before I upgrade, I'd like to revisit our earlier discussion about converting tags. So after I upgrade, all our open tags will be converted to new tags in v5? And regarding tag merging, from that same earlier thread:On 6/12/2024 at 1:39 PM, Matt said:(...) it might be worth considering a one-off script/tool that does this pre-upgrade.Is this tool to merge redundant tags being considered? It sure would be quite amazing to be able to merge them and clean up our messy open tag situation into a great new fancy v5 closed tagging system. :)
Tuesday at 12:59 PM5 days Very cool. Thanks for all the hard work. This is the best platform without question.
Tuesday at 01:32 PM5 days HelloIs there supposed to be the upgrade option from the ACP of 4.7.20 or do i have to upload the whole thing manually?

Tuesday at 01:58 PM5 days In my excitement just rushed to quickly update to the latest version of 4 to then request 5 to update tonight after I finish work, thinking it would take just a couple of minutes and managed to run into my first error whilst updating whilst on the Cloud. Sent an email, help! 😅
Tuesday at 02:12 PM5 days Quick question. When I click request update, does that immediately automatically update all the files and I need to head over straight away to upgrade as my site will be offline. Or is it manual where I request and I wait for one of you lovely people get involved?

If you are happy, check the box and click go. At that point, it will apply the files and you will go to /admin/upgrade to complete the upgrade as normal
Tuesday at 02:29 PM5 days Congrats to the entire team for something that has been a long time coming. I know how much blood, sweat, and tears went into this. The end result is truly stunning and sets the foundation for some really cool stuff. I’m super excited to see what’s next and what you can do before the end of 2025. Edited Tuesday at 02:30 PM5 days by Randy Calvert
Tuesday at 02:41 PM5 days Congrats! and thanks for allowing me to be a part of the Alpha and Beta test teams. I learned a lot about the software even after running Invision since 2001."We've had some bad times, lived through some sad times" but we made it.Shutting down my Beta site and upgrading my main site this weekend. Tuesday at 03:52 PM5 days CONGRATULATIONS on the release!!!! 🎉 And thanks for allowing me to be a part of this journey!
Tuesday at 03:55 PM5 days Congratulations on the new release. It will be awhile before our custom apps catch up due to the level of changes and missing hook points where our app needs them. I am looking forward to when I can upgrade.

Tuesday at 04:10 PM5 days Fantastic job on Ipb 5! It's the best forum softare currently out there. The excellent work you all have done as a team deserves recognition! You are an awesome example of hard work, commitment, and determination. Congratulations on your achievement and success! Well done, everyone!
Tuesday at 04:48 PM5 days So glad to see this get to the finish line. You guys have done an amazing job, thank you for all your hard work and for inviting me to road-test the alphas and betas with you. I'm probably a few months away from upgrading yet (I need a solution regarding Status Updates data retention/conversion [as well as give my community enough notice that it's going bye-bye] and am going to wait and see if some of the custom apps I have here will be carried over to V5) but I have been running the beta on a test instance and genuinely cannot wait to get it deployed on my community. I really think doing so will kick off a new era for my community in terms of activity and activity. Thanks again Matt and all at IPS!
