I just wanted to make a quick post about Invision Community's development over the next few months.

We had been working with almost weekly releases for a while as we bolted out of the gate with v5 and needed to be agile towards fixing bugs and improving new features. We fell into a "one week beta, next week release" cadence for a few releases as the new version stabilised.

Now v5 is pretty stable and maturing nicely.

Does that mean we're putting our feet up?

Our developers are developing, but I appreciate that you may have missed my bad puns and Gen X gifs, so here's what's coming up:

Invision Community 5.0.9: this will be mostly bug fixes with one new feature we're excited about. This should be released by the end of the month.

Invision Community 5.0.10: this will also fix some bugs, but will also contain another new feature we're very excited about and some really nice improvements to a specific area. This will be out towards the end of July.

We'll have some blogs on all the new stuff coming pretty soon.

We haven't forgotten about Invision Community 4.7 either. We're planning on a maintenance release at the end of the month also.

Honestly.. unlikely. That's the sort of thing we'll add to v5. We see v4 as maintenance for the most part now.

Its more because 2.1 is supposed to be supported (cant remember which 4.X) but its bugged as far as I can see with the changes that came in 2.X so I am not sure if it ever worked.

I’m extremely excited! Can’t wait to experience what the new features are!

Yeah. We might have to consider a new OpenSearch class as Opensearch is fundamentally different from Elasticsearch now.

@Matt: Please would you consider giving thought to the featured page, in terms of more depth to configuration?

Previously, with Our Picks, whoever submitted content, they could go back and edit it. I don't see how that is possible now? I think admins should be able to edit what content is placed, even if a moderator has featured it, or a different team member.

I don't want this to sound cheeky, as I am sure it's not the case, but it can appear to be somewhat overlooked.

I can fully appreciate that what was a great idea has become impossible due to Zuckerberg and Musk. However, I still think it's a very useful page. The feature itself, it's nice to post out on social media, and I know the footprint on my site has it in the top 5 of the pages visited.

If we could edit (please forgive me if we can already), and choose the amount of rows 3x10, 4x12 or whatever. It would look better, as having odd numbers on some resolutions seems a waste of space. There has been a significant reduction in Something v5.

Thank you to the team for v5, it's amazing and I am very thankful that I am using it.

I didn’t. I figured it wouldn’t work since 2.3 and v5 didn’t work either. But I could try it out sometime this week.

It's worth a try, it may work.

@Cedric V I noticed a recent support ticket where someone explained that they had used 2.2 to upgrade and the only issue they seemed to have was with the PM system data. It could be worth checking out the support topics. Welcome back to Invision.

Problem is that I can't/don't want to revert back to 2.2 to convert. I haven't done it before, so I'm not sure if it's possible at all. But I'll see how it goes, going to test out some stuff and see what works best. Looking forward to get back into Invision.

I believe they took a copy of the 2.3 data and converted it to Invision using the 2.2 conversion tool. I don't think they went back to the 2.2 version, they just migrated to Invision using that option and tried running the script whilst on 2.3.

Can you perform a test? Take a backup, then use that data to migrate back to Invision whilst on XenForo 2.3, but choosing 2.2 in the migration tool.

I believe I did the same, since 2.3 isn't available in the import selector on v5. Which ended up in an error. Most was imported though, but it shouldn't really end up in an error. Anyways, I appreciate the help. 😁

Just wanted to fill in. I've imported from 2.3 to V4. It gave an error, that the table xf_rm_resource_feature was missing. I've just disabled the importing of the resource and it the rest all successfully imported. Will now be working on upgrading to v5 and getting everything setup.
