Heyhoe Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Really interested to see where 4.0 goes with the editor.
Invisionary Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Quotes. I've skimmed through this too long topic and, frankly, can't understand many of the complaints (meaning I literally don't understand the issues). My only concern is that I can no longer see who made the original post or click on a snapback to read a post in it's original context. I don't like to just assume a quote is unedited by the person quoting it.

Invisionary Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/quoting-is-broken-r40515 Thanks, so that's a bug... in that case I see no other issues with quotes and really don't understand what the last 4 pages have been about
Axel Wers Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 "Quote" in 3.4.x is not feature, it's cataclysm.
NenaDice Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I have not had a chance yet to try 3.4.x but from what I have seen here on this forum, I like the quotes.
Jυra Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Even though the feedback forums are being phased out, I would like to say I'm not upgrading until quoting is redone or reverted.
Management Lindy Posted December 29, 2012 Management Posted December 29, 2012 Even though the feedback forums are being phased out, I would like to say I'm not upgrading until quoting is redone or reverted.1. Who said the feedback forums are being phased out? :smile:2. What specifically are you displeased with?
Adriano Faria Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Didn't read the whole topic but you're probably talking about this: If you use multiQuote, it's really hard to know who said what! >_<
Kandice Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Another things I dislike is that Code and Quote add a huge space between all the sentence. Of cousre submitting this just result in "Not a bugs." Absolutely hate the new Quote and Code system, I want it to be back the way it was in 3.3. I hate going back and remove space every single time I used Code or Quote. Also all post now look more messy then before in 3.3.
Heyhoe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I can see why the spacing might use up too much room, but if something so small bothers you then I'm sure you can change that on your board. Or use the expanding window corner tool to give yourself more room.

Dmacleo Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Didn't read the whole topic but you're probably talking about this: If you use multiQuote, it's really hard to know who said what! >_< this, its really the only issue I have with quotes setup.
Kandice Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Funnily enough the entire reason this was added was because people asked for it. I guess the Quote gap on top and bottom is ok, but the Code one is a mess. Gap on every single sentence. But I guess we talking about Quote here. http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/using-the-code-tag-create-a-big-gap-in-between-the-word-r40437
Saiga Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 this, its really the only issue I have with quotes setup. Same here. Find myself forgetting who's said what far too often. And I'm much too lazy to actually go back and look.

Management Matt Posted January 3, 2013 Management Posted January 3, 2013 I can look at finding a way to add in the meta data. It's always a challenge with a real time editor because if I add a DIV with this information, there's nothing stopping you from tabbing to it and removing it. Or breaking it, etc.
Dmacleo Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I have a dream where one day editors are judged not by the quality of their backports but of the content of their original creators :P :) sorry Matt, could not resist :)
Wolfie Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I have a dream where one day editors are judged not by the quality of their backports but of the content of their original creators   Four One score and seven years ago, BBSes were becoming the rage and editors were very basic, having very few frills to them...
in_rainbows Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 This is what I hate () in new quotes: When you try to copy and paste a quote, 'ipsBlockquote' class disappears and this quote loses appearance and not parsed as quote.
Jombi Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 This is what I hate () in new quotes: quotes.png When you try to copy and paste a quote, 'ipsBlockquote' class disappears and this quote loses appearance and not parsed as quote. Dear god, finally I find someone else showing the issues I'm having. This seriously looks like a broken feature on forums, not an "upgrade". Please make this an option, or revert entirely. Not sure why anyone would want it the way its set up now...
Morgin Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I think I have this issue too. People try to copy and paste quotes, and they break.
Wolfie Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 People try to copy and paste quotes, and they break.People break when they try to copy and paste quotes? Ouch, that's harsh.
Marcher Technologies Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 People try to copy and paste quotes, and they break. I would assume this is actually still being worked on.... copy-pasted this quote from the above post.... seems not to work in a direct c+p from RTE to RTE, but in direct copy of the quote from another post pasted into the RTE it is actually working. 0.o
Axel Wers Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 People break when they try to copy and paste quotes? Ouch, that's harsh. Yes, it's harsh. On my board are very often discussions about politics and there is quoting VERY often used. So it's almost impossible quote whole posts, every member quotes only part of message or split whole quote to smaller parts. I would assume this is actually still being worked on.... Good. But I have to say, this topic begins to be little obsolete because in few last weeks QUOTE has been improved in many ways. I think only this bug is annoying.
