Why isn't there a custom widget block for adding random things to your sidebar like HTML and text?  I was able to add a plugin to do it but I really think this should be a core feature.  I don't have Pages so I am not able to use page builder widgets either.

There’s one as part of the IP. Pages application.

I know, but I don't have IP.Pages and really don't have a need for it right now, but I could really use the random widget block!

I got it...just wish there was a core feature for that exact same thing.  I try to keep my forum running with as little3rd party plugins as possible to make it easier to upgrade but it is getting harder and harder because there are so many cool plugins and apps that I want to run!

+1 for moving this feature into the core. In our case, we don't need pages app at all. Just one widget is not a good reason to buy something you don't need.

The Pages application is designed to allow you an easier way to create custom pages, layouts, blocks and so on. If you need more advanced widgets to build out your pages, then the Pages application is probably what you should look at.

We know, and we don't need it all. At all 🙂
The only thing we need is a widget where we could use HTML. It has to be a core functionality. It's logical and obvious.

It's a weird way to try selling the "Pages" app. It causes distrust and disappointment, not sales. 😥

Please, discuss it internally. I'm sure the Pages app will not suffer from moving such a small feature to a more logical place - the core.

A little bit too late to this topic, but is there a way to have this on 4.6.8?
I don't see it in the marketplace and in the link you posted it says it is not compatible with 4.6 and there's no link to download it.

Brandon has been gone since around April.

Does anyone know if there's a plan to update the compatibility of this to work with 4.6.8?
Currently there's no option to install it...

You should ask the author directly, only he will know that

We have an updated version of the old PHP & TXT Widget, but that won't come to the Marketplace in the near future.

THANK YOU so very much!  It's an awesome plugin.  Where can I donate for this?

You're welcome. If you really want to, you can send me some bucks via PayPal.

This does look useful. I went to your link and it was in German. I'm on 4.6.8 so I wouldn't mind giving this a try.

Will it be English and how is it downloaded to install on the latest version. It's been a while since I installed a plugin.

Thanks

Robert

As seen on the other link it is a very old plugin. I updated it last year for 4.5 but it should work on 4.6 too.

It is in english, when you download it you get the xml file and can import it here ...

Thanks. I've downloaded this now. How is it used. Is it just for Admin as well? Robert

I have this showing.

After the installation click on the pencil and activate the plugin. Then open the sidebar in the frontend and search for PHP & TXT Widget. It contains two cards you can drag and drop in the availiable positions of your page. Now simply click on edit and enter whatever you want. That's all, see screenshot ...

Thanks, but I don't get the CrossHair on the Block to drag it on to the Forums.  I think it's something to do with my my image says Custom?

It says it's active and enabled?

Perhaps it doesn't work on 4.6.8 after all? Any thoughts?

For the screenshot I installed it on our main live site which is running the latest 4.6.8 and all my plugins there are "custom" 🤔

It works on my 4.6.8

Thanks Guys. That was really helpful.

It works now. I can see the parts below the heading now, which I didn't before.

Brilliant help here.

Thanks

Robert

@Darth Vortex Is this normal that I have the Visibility tab totally blank? I just upgraded to 4.6.8 and installed the plugin XML from scratch.
