I think it would be great if a user could choose whether he wants to give his birthyear or note. E.G. My birthday is 15. Dec. 1986 but i only want the users to know that I was born on 15. Dec., I don't want them to know the year.

Skype!

That'd be great. Alot of people already use Skype and it's just going to get more and more, so it'd be nice if that were integrated into the board like all the others. :)

Subscriptions Manager Suggestions
by Guest air-head- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
I know sufficient updates to the subscriptions manager are being made, but it would be nice to be able to subscribe to more than one package (I don't know why only one is allowed in the first place) and to turn it into more of a billing system, adding the option of payment due dates and showing in the Admin CP (and for the client, perhaps as a global message like when you are notified you have a new PM) whether their payment is due, pending or late. What would probably be a major feature is sort of providing an Admin CP option to turn on 'support' for the forum. Perhaps when this option is on each user would only see the topics THEY have started in that forum, and groups …

Ignore feature

We have had lots of users asking if there can be an ignore feature. I guess they would create a list of other users and would never see their posts. Our forums attract quite a wide range of users. Dave

Applying group username formatting forum wide
by Guest air-head- 0 replies
- 1.3k views
It would be nice to see the formatting applied to usernames from a certain group shown forum wide, instead of just on the online list, or at least to have an option for this. This has probably been posted before. If not, I'm really surprised.

[SUG]Template System -> Link Template Bit
by Guest RedEnzian- 3 replies
- 2.1k views
hello matt, it would be nice if you can add a feature were a modder can add a new template bit and could link an existing template bit with it. for example: original template bit: Forum Index->render_forum_row linked template bit. Mod Name->my_render_forum_row in the edit screen for render_forum_row you can add a link to my_render_forum_row. if the original template bit is loaded in any php source file, it would automaticly overwritten by the linked template file.

This is a must and should be an option when deleting an account. Cleaning up spam and other unwanted material is way too time consuming. Thanks.

[SUG]Queue all posts by a group
by Guest RedEnzian- 2 replies
- 2.2k views
it would be nice, if you can add a setting in the groups managment, where we could set a "queue all post of this group" setting. currently you can only queue a post by members, but i think this option could be usefull esspecially for the guest group.

Converge "forums"
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.7k views
Just like converge member-base, but would be like linking forum-bases. For example, could make a Forum that wouldn't be treated as a forum, but more like a link, but when you 'enter' into it, it would follow the structure/rules of that database. As an example... [Root1] <announcements> <etc> [Root2=database#2] <forum1> <<subforum1>> ...etc... Of course, it wouldn't have to be a root, but the example was made to be simple. Only problem I could see would be trying to make it possible to post to that database, but otherwise, as a read-only, it could be a great feature.

When will be v2.1 availible?
by Guest Mihail Panayotov- 2 replies
- 2.4k views
Hi, in the near 2 or 3 weeks I would like to upgrade my IPB forums probably to version 2.0.4. My question is when will be availible the final v2.1 and if it will be in the near 3 or 4 weeks I will wait with the upgrade. I have searched the whole forums but I didn't found any release dates or even promices for release dates. I know this is not the right place to ask that, but I don't know where to ask. Thanks in advance.

Better modqueue options!
by Guest //Nathan- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
Hey, I don't know about you guys, but I think the modqueue feature is really cool... but not used for all it could be. I have a couple suggestions to extend the modqueue feature to do a little more. 1. "Post to Mod Queue" should be a new option between "Post New Topic" (or "Add Reply") and "Preview Post." That way, if you're not sure if something's allowed, rather than ask a mod, you could put it in the queue and let them approve or disapprove it. Example: I make a post about a file I found on BitTorrent, and I know talking about filesharing is a no-no, but the file in question isn't copyrighted. So I make a post about the file in general, post it, then make a reply…

New topic is missing an option...
by Guest .Nuke- 0 replies

Hi Matt I just made a topic in my IPB 2.0.4 and from the start i wantet to hide the topic because i did not finish it. When i say there needs or is missing a option, it because we have no Set Invisible (Unapprove) or Set Visible (approve) when making a new topic, we need to publish or topic, an then go to forum listing, an then select or topic we need to Set Invisible (Unapprove) or Set Visible (approve) I do belive that it is something that you can make in 30 sec

Tab order for posting new topics
by Guest Frank0051- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
Hey I have a pretty good idea, why doesn't the new post (or full post editing) form have a better tab order. It should be when the form loads up you tab directly to the Topic Title (which it does), then you hit the tab button to go to the topic description (which it does), and then you hit the tab button to go to the post body area (which it currently does not). I would think that this would only take 2-5 minutes to do.

Warning System
by Guest .John.- 22 replies
- 5.3k views
This is one thing I think HAS to be in 2.1 The ability for Moderators to set the warning level amount, instead of only Admins. For example, per my Rules - if someone posts something offensive/illegal - that warrants a warning level increase of generally between 25%-75%. This makes it tough work for the Mod to click increase like 10 times, to get it up to 50% - and have an explaination for each time. It'd be MUCH better if the mod could just put in 50 and an explaination - and have it over with. Likewise when decreasing it, you could erase the 50 and put 25 - and an explaination. Hopefully everyone gets my drift.

Cascading permissions
by Guest cthree- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I'd like to see IPB use a system of cascading permissions and privileges. As it stands there are a series of permissions for global, per group, per forum and per user. However these permissions are all mutually exclusive. I can disable PMs for a group of users but not an individual user for example. My suggestion is to implement a cascading permissions system which a set of permissions flow down from top to bottom ala CSS: Global -> Section (forums/blogs/galleries/etc) -> subsection (gallery category/a forum/etc.) -> Group -> User Every session inherits a set of global permissions. These are then added to or restricted by the member's group and then thei…

Subscription Manager
by Guest Steve_e- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
Hi - This feature suggestion relates to the SM component of IPB. Although the ACP now contains options allowing a Show Subscriptions and Force Subscription on registration, I think the SM should be tied still closer to the registration process. Currently this is what happens when the Show Subscriptions and Force Subscription feature is activated: The registration screen contains a section which does not allow the registration to be submitted until a subscription package has been selected. Once the subs package is selected the new member is allowed to register. They then have to login (after the registration has been accepted). I guess the seperate log in is a …

Unsubscribe link in topics
by Guest robirming- 10 replies

I'm hoping to see the possibility to unsubscribe within topics. Making the 'Track this topic' a 'Unsubscribe' link if you're already subsribing to the topic you're reading. I think it's strange this isn't included already. Maybe there's some performance reason to it that I'm not aware of?

Here is something i would love to see :) how about having a script editor build in the ACP, so instead of going to your ftp account to edit files, we can edit are files right through the ACP, would be a good addon, becuase you know Dean LOL, he loves making new mods for the forum. Thanks :)

Forum Permissions
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I mentioned something like this long ago, in a post far far away... Keeping it as simple as possible Take current permission system. Add in 3 possibility for clicking. Instead of "checked" or "not checked".. Have "checked", "solid" or "none" Checked = Those that have this setting get this permission (as is now) None = (well you know) Solid = MUST have this permission mask, no matter what. Could be useful in restricting access some by a positive requirement. If you put, say, 3 solid marks under the "start topic" column, then the only ones who could post would be those who have all 3 of those permission masks.

I just requested a demo account, and when you upload an image to the gallery, you get this error: (Sorry, couldn't post in bug reports): IPB WARNING [2] mkdir(./uploads/1120244923): Permission denied (Line: 650 of /modules/gallery/lib/gallery_library.php) IPB WARNING [2] move_uploaded_file(./uploads/1120244923/gallery_1_1_5119.gif): failed to open stream: No such file or directory (Line: 666 of /modules/gallery/lib/gallery_library.php) IPB WARNING [2] move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/tmp/phpyBjFwI' to './uploads/1120244923/gallery_1_1_5119.gif' (Line: 666 of /modules/gallery/lib/gallery_library.php)
