Hi @riko,

To get version 5, please go to your Client Area → Manage this purchase → Download Invision Community 5.

Before upgrading, please back up your database and existing Invision Community files. Normally you would not encounter any issues, but it's better safe than sorry. Follow the Manual Installation instructions on the help guide below to start the process.

Thank you! ❤️

  • Just a note to say that 5.0.8 has now been released. Just the one extra bug fix: Fixes an issue where guests could comment on blogs when the group setting was set to off.

  • You actually like autoplay? I always disable that in my browser settings first thing.

Thanks for letting us know. I have corrected that issue.

No problem at all. 😉

My apologies but I'm a bit unsure how to proceed. I've changed the license and downloaded v5. I also read through the instructions to be sure.

"The easiest and most reliable way to upgrade your community is to log into your AdminCP and follow the instructions."

I like ^this^ one, 🥳 seem to me the least hassle road to travel with no omissions from my side🤒, but, I've been up and down my ACP, an option/button or even instructions can not be found by this individual.

Do I need to upload the zip contents first?

Yes, you need to upload the contents of the Invision Community 5 files you downloaded from your Client Area. As mentioned, you’ve got to follow the Manual Installation instructions I provided in the link to the help guide to successfully install version 5.

Don’t forget to make a back up of your existing databases and files/folders.

Is it "safe" to upgrade 4.7.21 to 5.0.8? Or better wait for next versions?

It is definitely safe… many customers (including myself) are currently using version 5, not to mention this community is also using version 5. 😇

If you aren’t already, take advantage of the test installation to give version 5 a run before upgrading. This will give you an idea of how the new software works and you can use it to test different functionality before upgrading your production community.

Just FYI,

Upgraded from 5.0.7 Stable to 5.0.8 Stable on 4 localhost testinstalls without any issues except Support section still complains of modified files:

Some of the source files for Invision Community have been modified.

    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/applications/convert/sources/Software/Core/Smf.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/applications/convert/sources/Software/Forums/Smf.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/applications/convert/sources/Tools/Quill/output.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/applications/convert/sources/Tools/Quill/src/Lexer.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/applications/convert/sources/Tools/Quill/src/Line.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/static/templates/core_front_clubs.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/static/templates/core_front_global.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/static/templates/gallery_front_global.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/static/templates/gallery_front_view.php
    C:\laragon\htdocs\ips5-theme1/static/templates/nexus_front_clients.php

You should download an unmodified copy of those files and upload them to your server. Once that is done, check if the problem persists.

This was a full package download of 5.08, completely stock installs, haven't even opened the theme editor yet. Running PHP 8.2.

We're aware of this issue and looking into it.

Awesome, thanks Stuart!

Hi folks

Trying to go from 5.0.7 > 5.0.8 but getting "There are no applications available to upgrade"

Yes tried through get support

Tried through admin/upgrade

There are no support tickets any more, it's all done through the forums hence was asking on here. I'll try again later.

Have you uploaded the files manually or via the ACP?

I tried again about an hour ago and it worked.

We're on cloud so I did everything from the ACP via the upgrade tool.

You can send in an email support ticket from your client area, just click on your site and you should see a box for that. Let me know if you cannot see that.

Actually for all packages except Classic, just email [email protected] being sure you send it from the email address associated with your account.

👍 Cheers folks

  • 2 weeks later...

Just manually updated my forum to v5.

  • Having an empty 'uploads' folder in the update package is maybe (I can be terribly wrong), not smart. As that would had overwritten (as far as I can conclude and see) all my years of content. Other then that, everything went smooth as 'butter'. Thank you for that. 😊👍

  • Question though: in v4 there was an arrow on the left side allowing me to add and modify blocks. How do I access those now in v5?

  • Having only 1 subscription model and aiming my site at desktops/ tablets, that 1 stroke for my only subscription looks anything but "great". Any chance there is a way to spread the contents horizontally out instead of inside the current, mobilephone aimed, vertical bar?

  • What is more important when a new image is uploaded, the image or it's title?🤔 Now I have a really tiny thumbnail and a large blarp of a text title in that box.🤮

Thank you for your feedback on that. Note the package is not only for upgrades, but also for new installations. There are actually more than just upload that could be affected if you overwrite a folder entirely. For example, the applications folder. So its important only newer files are overwritten. Nothing should ever be deleted unless specifically requested

This is now page builder, which you can find by selecting your name in the top right :)

Could you screenshot where you mean on this one? I can then advise if its something you can change in settings, or something you would need customisation for

Feel free to post as feedback within our feedback forum. We are certainly always open to change within the software. I'm assuming you are referring to new content feeds and all activity feed there?

Oops, 😰 now... I guess I'm fortunate, as except for the 'upload' folder I overwrote/replaced everything with the contents of the zipfile, including the 'applications folder.

Anywho, thank you for the quick feedback! I found the pagebuilder, sorry I was a bit too quick with that, I located it after I posted here.

I've attached the "problem" I have with my subscription page, and I'll definitely hop by the feedback thread later on.Screenshot-2025-06-17-at-13.37.31.jpg

Yes, its built really for multiple subscriptions. I would add that to our feedback section as a suggestion to change
