Invision Community 5.0.9 Beta 1 has been released!

It's felt like a decade since our last beta, but it was only a month ago. Moving from almost weekly releases back to monthly makes the gap between releases feel like an eternity.

This release also adds some stats improvements (I'm about to write a blog about those...) and also adds Cloudflare's Turnstile CAPTCHA as an option.

We've got some communication to do around that, but briefly if you're an Invision Community Cloud customer and using the default reCAPTCHA option, then you'll be switched to Turnstile. There is no need to do anything and you won't need to sign up to get keys. We handle all that because that's what you're paying for. 😇

At the end of this year, the default keys that we ship with reCAPTCHA will stop working due to Google policy changes, so self-hosting customers will need to sign up for their own keys and/or consider other captcha options. If this all sounds confusing, don't worry - we'll be doing some communication around that and ACP bulletins to get you all straightened out.

Turnstile is a great CAPTCHA option and very good at being unobtrusive for real people but blocking bots. Give it a go!

@Matt The queries to create the 2 new tables and add 1 column were wrongly added to the queries.json file inside the upg_5000803 folder (5.0.8 Beta 2) instead of the new upg_5000900 one. 🙄

Can non-cloud clients still use Turnstiles? I use CloudFlare, and would like to still use it even if it meant I had to set it up.

Indeed. I’m a self hosted client and the setup was as simple as changing the spam prevention type in the ACP and registering your turnstile worker in cloudflare. Took 60 seconds and works flawlessly.

Probably by eliminating the many issues you have eliminated another one - the large LCP no longer exists, i.e. version 5.0.9 b1 has dramatically improved performance. Congratulations.

Turnstile is now available in 4.7.22 Beta 1 too.

Beta 2 is out!

I just pressed the button on beta 2, which should be available now. There's nothing too dramatic in this release, just some fixes for stuff that should have worked in Beta 1. 😇

@Matt Can i expect fix on cyrilic language for the tag/prefix search? I encounter other problems in custom app because of that i belive.

On my site, search by tag for Bulgarian works without issue. See the link - by searching for the word нипон for tags

Hi, I'm referring to the fast search in the tags field. Only English letters can be found. As you can see, it doesn't show me the word in Bulgarian that i wrote, even though it's there if you scroll. I'm still on 5.0.8.

I'm trying to design a new landing page and got the following error:

Upon checking the applications, it says Pages are still on Beta 1, while the rest is all Beta 2.

Maybe this is a mistake that was overlooked. 🙂

Not sure what happened for you here, but Ive corrected it for you. Please let us know if you see it happen on the next beta, but I very much suspect you wont. It just looked like the upgrader hadn't been run for some reason. Doing some testing here to see if I can replicate it of course :)

Hello,

I am self-hosted, the installed version is 5.0.8.

I don't know since which version the problem occurs but I can't edit an event in the calendar.

The choice is not proposed in the moderation.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Make sure that following setting. in your ACP => Community => Calendar - Settings is disabled

That said, we have fixed/improved this for 5.0.9 :D

I forgot to mention this because I'm the forum admin and yet it's impossible to edit an event.

I'll wait for 5.0.9 ;)
