Searching - Tighter Modular Integration

The option to have the main board search to search blogs and galleries too would be excellent. Even with little thumbnails for relevant images. Discussion topic for this http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...0entry1263162 :)

Invision Shop
by Guest coconutx- 2 replies

I suggest a feature be made called Invision Shop of Ishop. Either seperate on with the ipb forum, but using the same skinning methods. Basically a store where users can buy items via paypal. Also maybe an addon where users can submit items to the shop kind of like a mini ebay. But someone else could mod the addon if this was created. I think it would be a great addition, i would definately buy it.

[Suggestions] Uploads System
by Guest Phil_B- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I have been with the community a few years now and as my site has grown so has the size of the uploads folder ! My question is as follows; are there any plans in the future to have uploaded files spread over a number of folders within the uploads directory to make it more manageable? If not then I would like to suggest it be made a future feature addition (maybe filename by date and a task to determine when to make a new folder with the UNIX date as the filename). Feedback welcome :) PB.

"Subscribe to all"
by Guest cowudders- 1 reply
- 1.9k views
I'd love the option to subscribe to all topics and threads automatically - i.e., to allow a user to simply get an email every time any post is added anywhere. I can see this would be a hassle for large boards, but my boards sees about 1 post ona bad day or 10 on a good one, so this volume of email traffic would be easy. Besides, if they select the digest option, they would just get one large email. I would like to be subscribed to it as admin, the moderator would, and I have at least one member who would like this. Ideally, it could be done on a catagory per catagory basis - I have 5 different topics on my home page, m each with many subforums, so to be able to simlpy sel…

Making mods easier to install
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
Even with the modules system out, there are some that want to do things the hard way, so to ease the pain some, possibly quite a bit depending on the mod... The "act={name}" design, have that be databased, with some defaults that cannot be deleted. To add a new mod that has it's own "act" setup, either the Admin could add it, or the mods installer script could do it. (Mod makers: You could design your mods to let the admin decide what name they want to use based on this scheme!) This could enormously increase the power of mod adding as functions such as "showtopic", etc, could be made to call on either a different script (which would in turn load the proper file), …

[2.1.0] Small skin/text thingy in Quotes
by Guest robirming- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
A small thing, but something that mebers of my board keep commenting about. The lack of space between "QUOTE" and the brackets in quote blocks. To have this: QUOTE(Username @ 20 Sep 2005, 16:30) Look look like this instead: QUOTE (Username @ 20 Sep 2005, 16:30)

AutoArchive, QuoteSearch and SecurityPak
by Guest ZeroSum- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
* AutoArchive would be a wonderful way to avoid wasting time with mass moving. * QuoteSearch would be a wonderful way to avoid pouring through long topics when all you really want to do is reply to whomever you are having a back-and-forth with. * SecurityPak would be useful to enhance IPB security. As far as the Emoticon Category Browser goes, I've yet to figure out how to install it with 2.1. The emo_pop code should be the same but it only works with the fast reply box so far. And my admin panel is buggy. Nice new design, though. Chris

IPB Settings Import
by Guest Dan- 3 replies
- 2.7k views
When you create an IPB settings group, it asks for a group key which needs to be individual to the group, something along the lines of my_settings, or similar. When you export an ipb_settings_partial.xml file, it exports the group information, including the group key as a part of it, but all of the individual settings are exported with conf_group set to it's group id number, which is individual to the forum it was created on. This means that when you import your settings, they don't show as a part of the newly created group and it takes an SQL query to 'fix' it. Is there any chance this could be set up so that settings are exported with the conf_group set to the grou…

Well, can an AJAX feature be attempted where a member say where there is an option for showing the PM preview..has an extension button near to it...when clicked opens an extension box...which has the whole PM..along with quick reply thing..so that a quick reply for the PM be sent? It would be nice..some people like me find it more convenient this way :)

OpenID support as an option.
by Guest noneloud- 7 replies
- 3.2k views
Hello, my name is Jacob Wilson and I have been a long time fan of Invisionboard and the great work that has been going on at InvisionPower lately. IPB is simply unsurpassed by any other board out there today. I have one suggestion that I think InvisionBoard should look into. I have always been a fan of authentication systems like that of Microsoft's Passport and the Liberty Alliance's efforts, but the problem with them all is that they all rely on one central server for ID verification, and they require user information and passwords to be passed between sites. OpenID is an authentication specification that allows users to verify themselfs on other websites without havi…

Links Directory for IPB
by Guest markber- 4 replies
- 2.9k views
I need a Link Directory for my board where my members can post links, vote for them and post reviews. An example of good Link Directory would be one that vBAdvanced offers for vBulletin board. I think it is a shame that IPS does not offer its Top Site List anymore. If you agree with me, "BUMP" this post to support this idea and make it clear for IPB designers that this is an important issue to address.

RTE Width
by Guest .Jack- 15 replies
- 5.1k views
Although this technically is not a bug.. I believe it is something very important that does need to be looked into and hopefully implemented by 2.1 final... Basically, obviouslly users can customise the overall width of their board, in fact- there is even a comment in the stylesheet indicating "this is where you control the overall board width" or whatever... However, as far as I can see the RTE width is not controllable without "hacking" the php file(s) and therefore not a per-skin thing... (plus, one shouldn't have to go hacking to change such a trivial thing) By having no control over the RTE width, you are esentially retarding all the boards with a lowish width be…

[2.1.0] WYSIWYG internal links
by Guest robirming- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
I don't if this should be called a bug. If not, maybe the topic could be moved to the suggestions forum. Or maybe it's not at all possible to make it work. Anyway, here's the thing: One great advantage when using the Rich Text Editor is when you copy a linked word or phrase into the post, you will get in right in there at once. This however doesn't work when using internal links since the board url part will be missing in the link. Ex: http://index.php/?showforum=15 Maybe it would be possible to have the full URL's in posts when posting internal links this way?

New login handler not used in admin login.php
by Guest K. T. Walrus- 2 replies
- 2.1k views
I changed my login handler to use external login method, but the admin login still logs in using the converge table. I modified my sources/action_admin/login.php to use the new login handler for authentication and all seems to work as expected. Was there some reason you don't use the login handler for admin login? I deleted my converge table since I don't want to have my username/passwords for logging in in two different places.

A page that shows all attached images in the forum
by Guest Jaap- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
In our forums, users upload images, but becuase they are only to be seen in the topics, it's not easy to know if images have been used before. So a page displaying all images as thumbs, where above each image you have a button that brings you to the topic the image is used, as well as clicking on the image gives it original size. With my very limited php knowledge I tried to make something like it. Since it loads all images on one page loading is slow, and the link to the topic isn't there but to see what I mean, try this: link to the imagepage Further nice things can be sorting on date, forum or user. And the possibillity to reuse an image in another topic can sa…

3.0 - CSS export/merging
by Guest Wolfie- 6 replies
- 2.3k views
Rather simple but could be very useful/effective. More for CSS changes but could be used for the HTML too I guess... Anything that is different from the *default* CSS, be it a color difference, table size, etc, have only the changes themselves be exported. Then those changes could be merged into an existing CSS skin to make those same changes only. Could be useful for changing only the color of a skin if all that is necessary is to import a stripped CSS that would simply update the colors but leave everything else alone. Or perhaps change text or table sizes, graphic references, etc.

3.0 - Updated emoticons functionality
by Guest Wolfie- 5 replies
- 3.2k views
I'm not griping about the way it's done now, just think it can be enhanced on the AdminCP side of things. #1 - Hidden emoticons You can already select to make them clickable (ie, show up next to the post box). How about viewable (on by default)? That way if you want to add an emoticon but you want it to be hidden for some reason, then you can do it. Have them as either little easter eggs, or perhaps only a few people would know of them because they shouldn't be available for the general publics common knowledge for some reason. #2 - Update the emoticon manager Show the emoticon, have a little menu button (like with the member management search results). In the m…
