iFramely integration is really cool because members can finally embed Instagram posts again. Unfortunately my community surpassed the free tier of 1000 hits in less than 24 hours lol.

  • Britney: Hit me baby one more time! IFramely: No.

On my community it is working really good but due to 90-days limit and next tier monthly price being 50 USD (I pay amazing dedicated server on Hezner like 30 USD monthly, even whole invision community pack is like 16 USD per month ).

Rarely have I seen a worse ROI for $50 per month.

@bags_ppp Agreed 50USD per month is to much for such a feature. Would make much more sense if it was 50bucks per year unlimited use.

I get where you're coming from, though I'd like to point out a few reasons why the pricing may be more reasonable than some seem to think

  1. Existing oEmbed domains still work and will take precedence over Iframely. In other words, sources such as X, Youtube, Reddit and more will not go through Iframely or incur any hits. So if the pricing doesn't work out then you are still going to have access to content from these major providers.

  2. When you setup the integration in the AdminCP, Iframely is restricted based on what domains you've whitelisted, so it isn't like every URL/embed causes an Iframely hit. In fact, most embeds will probably not incur hits with Iframely
    Screenshot 2025-11-22 at 10.08.05 AM.png

  3. Their free tier currently includes 1000 hits per month and an extra $4 per 1000 hits, while their business tier includes 10,000 hits for $49 per month. This means, if you don't care for the content cards or "Powered By" icon, you can get 10,000 hits for $36, not $50

Managing an oEmbed directory with this many providers and URL configuration options, each individually tested and maintained over time, is no easy feat. While it certainly is not an absolute necessity on every community, from a developer's perspective their pricing seems very reasonable for what they're offering.

Thanks, do you know if that is only for three months, as others have asked?

If so, I need to cancel my account now.

You'll have to confirm package details with Iframely, however there's nothing indicating you cannot stay on the starter plan indefinitely. I believe the 90 days is how long you have before you even need to pick a plan.

Please refer to their pricing page for more details.

This iframely is optional right? We are going to still have the default sharing buttons?

Man.. #6050 takes away all the purpose of my application.

#6050 Mark site read for new members

Yeah... I was trying to learn how to do this on my own and then I was going to buy your "Nuclear General" app... but it's fixed now... which is great!!!!

This update makes sense but there are a lot of things I'd like to have that I'd pay for. Like I'm eyeball'in that chat thingy.

Thanks IC5 team for the nifty enhancements.

Chat thingy?!? lol 🤣 You mean the chat window on my site in multiple locations? That is not my application. It is @onlyME's application. I have the Chatbox Plus version. Worth it my man!! 😁

Yes. Facebook and Instagram make it so difficult to get access to embed their content. Using Iframely makes the process so much easier, you sign up enter your API key and that's it.

You don't need to use it if you don't want Facebook/IG embeds.

Iframely isn't a sharing service it does not replace any share buttons.

Can someone post a link to FB that shows they have had success with embedding once iframely was activated? I'd like to make sure my setup is working. I've tried several different ones, and they paste as links.

But only three months.

Ya, it's a no go for me, 50$ per month is more than what i pay for Invision, and the only benefit it does is embed content.
But i don't know if the free package really have a time limit of 3 months.

It’s not 1000 items, nor 1000 page views.

So, each embed can apparently create up to 24 hits per day. An active topic with lots of embeds can consume the 1000 hits quickly I would presume.

And once your community gets more and more embeds with iframely, there wilkl be a day that you will have hundreds or thousands of iframely embed that are using a lot of hits per day, each one of them.

What actually happens, if you choice to use iframely, and use it for a lot of links.
Then a year later you decide not to use iframely anymore. Do those items in forum posts revert back to a normal link or disapear?

I’ve registered with Iframely and confirmed that the Starter plan is available at no cost, with no time-limited trial. In other words, it provides a permanently free tier, which is excellent.

@Matt Finger From what I understand, we interact with the Iframely API, which returns the HTML for each embed.
If that HTML is cached on our side, a hit is only generated when the embed is created for the first time. Once cached, subsequent views will not trigger additional hits, since the embed content is served locally. Would this be possible?

According to the Iframely documentation:

You should cache API responses, including error codes, on your end and refresh your local data periodically. We recommend cache time-to-live of 1 to 24 hours.

On sing up form (but in welcome email as well)

Because you are on the free trial, but you can commit to the free tier.

So, for each hour during which a URL is used in the Iframely platform, a hit will be counted, "whether for resolving or displaying content".

Since the HTML returned for the embed is really an iframe pointing to Iframely, subsequent views add up to 1 hit per hour as well.

Again, please refer to their pricing page for more details.

We've got a few tweaks coming in Beta 2 for Iframely. I'd suggest trying again with that release.

The embeds load via the Iframely CDN, so they would stop working if you exceed your billing allowance (or cancel).

Does anyone have some good examples of links they've used so I can try it out?

I can see a ton of value in the iframely integration. After setting it up, you may need to update a few settings to tailor it to your needs.

  1. In AdminCP, enable "can embed external content" n the editor permissions. I'd recommend setting that permission to "advanced" so access is limited. Giving it to trusted staff will help keep usage in check.

  2. Change embed width in AdminCP if content gets cut off.

  3. Whitelist domains in integrations

I also put together a video embedding a Google Sheet by allowing *.google.com in the iframely integration settings. @Gary Lewis, you might be interested in this as well.

Thanks @Mike Gitkos.

I just tried with a test Google Sheet. Just gibberish.

I followed the settings you had above, the unlimited width was one I didn't have set.

It still will not embed. A few FB ones did.

Happy to hear Facebook embeds are working. For Google Sheets, you need to change the access so anyone with the link can view. Can you update that setting and try again on your community.
