I'd rather have an in-house solution that doesn't require the distribution of members' IP addresses to third parties like hCaptcha Google, ...

I think we tried v3 internally with some fairly poor results. I'll mention it to the dev team and get an update.

I 2nd this. Trying to stay away from the giants and get back to little niches. 🧐

If you don't like Google for privacy reasons which I totally understand, there's a reason why an IPS developer (under a pseudonym) released a captcha alternative into the IPS Marketplace.

Invision offers a subscription-based spam filter, it would be convenient to have this additional feature without having to go through an external developer.

I read around the web last week that Google is going to start charging for reCaptcha which would make hCaptcha even more desirable if it was incorporated into the forum software as a supported feature.

Although the criteria for charging is high (million requests a day, or 1000 a second) it only takes some bad actor to target a site and run up those requests, and that article is from 2020 so that criteria may have already changed, knowing Google.

There is hcaptcha available in the Marketplace

Done. Thanks, I got hit hard in Mid March, my spam defense was set to ban, and I had to delete about 20 accounts. I just checked my Google reCaptcha stats, and yes lots of red, but some green too. They got through. Let's see if this helps.

On a side note, I get a lot of email triggers from guest at like 1xxxx & 2xxxx, Is there any reason to be concerned with this? Thanks for your reply.

Do you plan to implement v3?
