Icon Design for 2x Reply Buttons

I have upgraded my forum from v1.3.1 to v2 and two of the button icons are throwing my users. a) Reply directly to this post ( " Reply ) b) Add Reply ( + Add Reply ) The number of instances of the quoted reply button (a) and relative closeness to the topic text means that many users are including a quote of the previous post rather than scrolling down the page to the add reply button (b), simply because it is the path of least resistance. As a result topics are filling up with unnecessary quoted text which is a waste of resources. Can I suggest that in a future release you consider putting the add reply button (b) alongside the other post buttons (! report, ^ to…

With the wider use of good browsers such as Firefox I think a Live Bookmarks option would be a great thing to have for IPB. Maybe as an on/off option in ACP, or something included in Tools_and_Scripts. :wub:

HTML in signatures by member group

Why wasn't this in 2.0? I often use iframes in my signature (For things like PHP countdowns) but I don't want EVERYONE to have the ability to have HTML in their sigs. For the next version i'd love it so we can turn it on/off by member group, like posting HTML on the forums.

Would be nice to have a modification to allow a page of questions that one can only view the answers to after submitting your answers. Would also be nice to have one question per page with an answer explanation that leads to another question and so forth. Anyone have any suggestions for software to implement with the board to do this or a modification?

In the blog system - you get a 'about me' page. I think this could be used instead of member profiles - allowing people to create there own 'web page' using BBCode - and maybe an option for uploading pictures. :)

Currently, if you restrict a member's ability to read posts in a forum, you are unable to allow them to start topics in that forum, regardless of their permission settings. It would be helpful at a couple boards that I administrate if it were possible to allow members to start a topic in a forum that they can view but have no read access to (even if it prevents them from reading their own topic - but ideally they could read the topic that they posted just as a courtesy).

Firstly, I am obviously aware of that members can choose to view 'unseen' boards by subscription and as Admin I can create member groups that see certain boards and not others etc. I just want to float an idea and see what develops.... A new member registers and sees the structure of the board like this: Category: Sport ---Forum 1 Football ---Forum 2 Rugby ---Forum 3 Cricket Category: Entertainment ---Forum 1 TV ---Forum 2 Radio ---Forum 3 Video Games The member decides that he doesnt like the idea of all these different forums and instead prefers to have all sport in one Forum and the TV and Radio Forums he wants to see as one Forum. so he sees t…

Hello! I think it would be useful to add an option for setting the total amount of space to use for all attachments, photographies and avatars. AFAIK, one can only set the limit for attachments on a per-group basis. Regards, Sebastian

Hi! While browsing on the Internet, I found a vB forum having this neat feature: if a post is moved to the recycle bin, only the admins/mods/super mods and the thread starter have access to the respective thread. In this way, if the moderators feel more clarification is needed to determine if the subject is in violation of the posting guidelines, they can move it to recycle bin and still be able to communicate with the thread starter. Ipb-wap (xml)

Is there anyway so Ipb would work on internet and on wap let's say you've got domain www.nothing.com (this would be the main domain of the invision board) and then you'd had wap.nothing.com (there should be the wap part xml documents) and if you'd write in main domain nothing.com (if you make post there) the post should appear on wap and contrary the wap think should be without any pics ofcourse (something like lofi version) if ipb had this feature i'd buy it right away (and many others would as well) regards and i hope you'll consider my proposition

Announcements not showing as unread

Announcements are meant to be the highest priority comment a forum can have by my reckoning, with their positioning above Pinned topics et al. However, they are easily missed due to their lack of a Read/Unread flag, or their inclusion in Last Post Info on forum "parents". Would it be possible to have Announcements have the above adjustments please.

Posting Right Per Group

I think it would be a good idea, to seperate rights for posting per each group, but by default its set the way it is now, but what you can do is only allow Moderators to post the bbcode, or certain bbcode in a post, this way it stops the spammers that are new members from posting stupid stuff. There could be other reasons in itself to make the IPB board by default like this

Attachment managing options

If I'm missing this let me know, but I can't find any way to obtain two pieces of information that are VERY important to me and my attachment-heavy website. 1. How many attachments a particular user has 2. How much total webspace is being taken up by a particular user's attachments As of now, the only way I know of to find out that information is by logging in to their account and going into their User CP myself :ph34r: (Kidding, I wouldn't really do that.) Still, hopefully this is something under consideration for a future release.

I think you get my point: SCRAP THE WARNING SYSTEM, WE NEED A BAN BUTTON. And I'm 100% sure the majority agrees with me. Right now, the only way to TRULY BAN SOMEONE (not suspend) is with the aid of an unstable mod at invisionize that grants Moderators limited access to the AdminCP, so they can move the selected individual into the "Banned" group they've set up. IPB can't not know this... It's just not possible.

I saw it in vBulletin and really see a use in it. At the moment you can only define the maximum length of a field entry and what exact format it must be, but that is very limited. In my specific case I'd like to make sure that every entry has a maximum of 12 characters with the first being upper case and all the others lower case. No special characters shall be allowed. With regular expressions it would be much easier to prevent people from entering invalid information. I think it should't be very difficult to add an optional regex form field in the ACP custom profile field section that is just ignored if left empty. You should make it so that you can set the default text of a new topic. This is helpful for forum's that have sections for reporting bugs and want to display a template of information for them to fill in. How are people doing this currently??
