Announcements not showing as unread

Announcements are meant to be the highest priority comment a forum can have by my reckoning, with their positioning above Pinned topics et al. However, they are easily missed due to their lack of a Read/Unread flag, or their inclusion in Last Post Info on forum "parents". Would it be possible to have Announcements have the above adjustments please.

Posting Right Per Group

I think it would be a good idea, to seperate rights for posting per each group, but by default its set the way it is now, but what you can do is only allow Moderators to post the bbcode, or certain bbcode in a post, this way it stops the spammers that are new members from posting stupid stuff. There could be other reasons in itself to make the IPB board by default like this

Very minor suggestion, but thought it'd be nice to have the actual page number table cell have an onclick tag rather than just the number inside being the page link. Just my $.02 :)

Low Fi attachments

Attachment managing options

If I'm missing this let me know, but I can't find any way to obtain two pieces of information that are VERY important to me and my attachment-heavy website. 1. How many attachments a particular user has 2. How much total webspace is being taken up by a particular user's attachments As of now, the only way I know of to find out that information is by logging in to their account and going into their User CP myself :ph34r: (Kidding, I wouldn't really do that.) Still, hopefully this is something under consideration for a future release.

I think you get my point: SCRAP THE WARNING SYSTEM, WE NEED A BAN BUTTON. And I'm 100% sure the majority agrees with me. Right now, the only way to TRULY BAN SOMEONE (not suspend) is with the aid of an unstable mod at invisionize that grants Moderators limited access to the AdminCP, so they can move the selected individual into the "Banned" group they've set up. IPB can't not know this... It's just not possible.

I would like the ability for Admins to be able to make replies and new topics in a read-only forum. I use Read-Only as my trash-can and it helps to be able to post, but not let others post, but not just use permissions masking.

I saw it in vBulletin and really see a use in it. At the moment you can only define the maximum length of a field entry and what exact format it must be, but that is very limited. In my specific case I'd like to make sure that every entry has a maximum of 12 characters with the first being upper case and all the others lower case. No special characters shall be allowed. With regular expressions it would be much easier to prevent people from entering invalid information. I think it should't be very difficult to add an optional regex form field in the ACP custom profile field section that is just ignored if left empty. You should make it so that you can set the default text of a new topic. This is helpful for forum's that have sections for reporting bugs and want to display a template of information for them to fill in. How are people doing this currently??

I think it would be nice if we had the ability to have to Admin-Accept all new users, and they would have to reply to an e-mail, from the address they gave us, after we validate them. We recently had a user join our forums, posing as another previous user. We Admin validated him, but he lied about the e-mail to appear as the other user. So, I think it would be a good idea to be able to do both. :thumbsup:

Creating multiple forums/sub-forums at once

I posted this yesterday in the IPB Support forum.. but it deserves a better home in here. Any thoughts on being able to create multiple forums at once? I need to create a heap of forums that are all the same and the name of each forum is the only thing that changes. Why should I have to create every single one of them laboriously by hand, when there should be an option to create more than one at a time, e.g. using a textarea where each new line is the name of a forum. I have been thinking of some new features that could be included in Invision Power Board version 2.1.0. Here are some features that came up with. 1. Skin Set Catagories This feature would allow different catagories of skins to show in the Skin Selector. I was thinking, instead of all the quoting in PMs, it would be really nice if the PM feature would show like a topic did, with replies on pages, and not a new message each time. Maybe an admin setting could set how many messages were allowed per PM? I don't know, just a thought, it'd be a very nice addition :)

Moderating Staff List

A good feature would be having the option to display certain members or groups on the Moderating Staff page or not. So in the ACP you could choose what members and groups you want and don't want displayed. On my board, we have a "Board Coder" who has admin permissions but I don't really want his username to appear on the list. Get what I'm saying?

I just spent the last 3 hours trying to skin my board, and have to say it needs some imporvement. I'ved used a VB on one of my forum and never had so much problem as I do with ib. perhaps break it down into THREE parts instead of lumping all the elements together? maybe section one could be: forum index. section 2 could be topic view. section 3 could be board index. when I want to edit the signature field, i have to search through ALL of the classes just just to find the signature class. <_< Hope you guys find a way to make it easier to skin... I guess I'm the only one on this board who doesn't like the current skinning setup?

It's only a minor suggestion and is also a very easy modification should you not want to add it, but I would like to see the option to have that pretty little 'new PM' alert show up in a pop-up. I would like to keep it as an option for users to use the current system, but it would be nice to see it able to show in a pop-up - mainly because I am terrible for missing PM's! :-"

Ok, I've looked around so far, and I can't find a karma/points mod that does what I need, can you help me? Here's the list of the things the mod must do : 1) Users must rate each other, and the combination of everybody's rating must determine a user's karma score. 2) The ratings must be by a user, on another user. This is user rating, not post or topic rating. 3) Users must not be able to rate themselves. 4) The higher a user is rated, the more their rating counts in determining somebody elses score. Hello, I know this has been suggested before but I just want to explain why it is so important. Imagine you had like what IPS has , IPS Management is the root admin group. Ok, But say they had a few members they didn't want to access a few things. The reg. key, SQL Toolbox etc... So you make a whole new group called Co-Management. Why? What would be the point. So what I am trying to say is, We need to set specific user-based permissions for ROOT admin group users. The main account like the first one, if possible.
