New website!
Matt, can you provide a few links of big companies using Invision? I am curious to see how large corporations handle their public forums. Maybe no better than the rest of us :) Thank you

Request: Add 'Timezone' to Spam Prevention
I can assure you 80% of of current spammers come from a single TimeZone . It's not 100%, but blocking 80% of them would be nice.

Request: Add 'Timezone' to Spam Prevention
Given the recent increase of spam registrations, it would be nice to have more flexibility in spam prevention and add the ability to block a 'TimeZone' and not just a 'Country'. Blocking an entire Country is too heavy handed 80% of recent spammers come from one single TimeZone - at least on our site Since TimeZone is a field that do exist for each member, it should be possible to add that filter in Spam Prevention/ Geolocation settings Thank you PS: I would be curious to know from sites that see an increase of spam, what Timezone they see from these spammers

Dropdown Menus on some Quest Rules is too small
The New Quest feature seem to be very powerful . I am trying to add a new 'Rule' to a Quest When trying to select a forum when a task must be completed (such as a post), the dropdown is only a few characters wide, making it almost impossible to use: The same issue appears on other dropdown menus as well

Invision Community 5.0.10 Released
I do not want to hijack this thread about this topic but It's not silly once you have first-hand experience of the Cloud version. We have one of the largest Invision sites out there and have been on the Cloud version for 7+ months. It is not overpriced. Once you factor in all the costs associated with self hosting, it will be cheaper on the Cloud plan . If you are self hosted you need to add : Server costs, bandwidth , Cloudflare, server maintenance (Webmaster), etc .. Unless you have a site with very little traffic that can run on a ultra cheap server, the Cloud solution will be cheaper. It is not slow. Speed is about the same for users with IPS 5. for us, the ACP is a bit slower, yes, but we had a $25K beast server. For users, I do not see the difference. It is not 'unreliable'. They use the AWS platform, it very stable. Sure, a sporadic slow down can happen, but no more than on a self hosted situations, Great Support. Invision has great tech support. Since they have people in both the UK and the US, they cover several time zones. I have received answers at 3am (for us). for the record, I do not work for Invision, I am just a regular customer like you. But I have been very impressed by version 5 so far, even though we are sometimes frustrated by small missing parts and small bugs. These small issues are greatly overshadowed by the overall quality of v5.

Four new things in Invision Community 5
Thank you. The Tags alone are fantastic. Can you provide a better example on how to use the forum collections / group? I do not see where the Forum Group options can be selected.

Approval Queue no longer gives the option to hide a post?
That was a very important option. It will not hurt performance to bring it back

Approval Queue no longer gives the option to hide a post?
in v4, you had the option to Approve, Delete or Hide a post that was in the approval queue. in v5 the 'Hide' option seems to be gone, is this correct? I see many reasons to Hide a post rather to delete it. Keep an history and data retention on some users, for example

Where to Change the Icons for forums 'Category'
Hello, for forums 'Discussion' we can set custom icons. I do not see the option for forums 'Category. therefore we are left with default Icons. How do you modify them?

Make Menu Headers Clickable, like in v4
in v4, if you made a Menu with sub-menus, it was possible to have a link for the Parent Menu item in v5, it's not longer possible. You create a 'Sub-Menu' and only the sub items can have a link Please re-introduce the ability to have a link for a top menu item Thanks

Successful Move to Invision Cloud
Huge thanks to the entire Invision team for helping us move to the Cloud. We've been using Invision since 2006 (maybe even earlier) and have always hosted everything on our own servers. With a community as large as ours—several terabytes—we were nervous about making the switch, thinking it might be a tough process. But the Invision team made it super easy, the actual transition (after data transfer) took less than a day. Maybe even just a couple hours, for the new DNS to propagate. Big shoutout to Marc for being incredibly responsive the whole way through, Jim for helping out with our other community, and Olivia for guiding us through the sales part. If you're still self-hosting, I definitely recommend their Cloud solution. Totally worth it.

Menu Manager Bug and Limitations
I agree. The new v5 menus options are too limited. You should bring back sub-menus options for all links, like we have in Invision 4. and yes, without providing us with proprietary code, it would be nice for Invision to provide a guide on how to do a similar menu to the one on this site.

Marketplace: The Next Steps
I am aware and that's the point. They were probably inundated with support requests coming from things they do not control , they do not want to support and yet still creates issues on their community.

Marketplace: The Next Steps
How big of a factor was the fact that Invision no longer wanted to deal with support related to 3rd party add-ons ? Now that you guys mostly sell the hosted solution, I am sure you want to focus your support on your community. Not of 3rd party that break your software because they are poorly written / and or not updated.
