Add To Reading List feature
by Guest rakaposhi- 1 reply
- 1.7k views
we need some sort of 'add to reading list' feature sometimes you dont have the time to read a topic, and you want to save it for later. At the moment you have to subscribe to it (well thats what i do anyway, set to 'no notification') wd be cool if IPB could incorporate some sort of method, perhaps similar to the heart shape in the blogs, so that you can click on a topic, it will add it to your reading list. You then just click 'My Reading List' and you'll get all your marked topics.

Private group request
by Guest WOFman- 8 replies
- 2.7k views
A feature that would allow members to make a request to the admin for access to private groups would be nice. And a screen for the mod to approve or reject the members request. It should give them access to the private group not change them from a member to that group. They should be able to be part of more than one private group too.

topic fields
by Guest Gianfire- 1 reply
- 1.9k views
this is, in my opinion the most important in a category , it should be possible to assign personal fields in a topic, so when a user starts a topic he could choice a particular value in a combo. The values of personal fields will be shown in their respective columns in the forum. This feature permits to add many many possibilities eg: in an category of cars, an user can post his topic and choice a brand for his car. So the topic list will show all posts and the brand. Without this feature many subforums should be created, one for each car brand. Or in a category for customer assistance , a user can be choice a level of urgency for his tickets, his product , and pat…

I would like to see a Section of the ACP that let you select which user groups can post annoucements and in which forums they can post them in, or alternetivly just add this onto the Moderator Control Screen.

The moderating team like vBulletin
by Guest maddog39- 4 replies
- 2.3k views
Hello all, I was looking at a vBulletin forum and I went to the forum leaders page and I like the way it was set up. Like each user group that moderated the forum would have there own spot on the forum leaders page. So it wouldnt just be Administrators, Global Moderators, and Moderators. Here is an example on my favorite forum. See how the different moderating groups have like there own blocks. Instead of the regular 3 like in IPB. So I was wondering couldn't you make IPB like this. I think that little feature would make it cooler. I especially like that feature so you can see who is who and how many of each group you have on one list. Just wondering. Thanks! :D

User Selectable Date/Time Formats
by Guest AtariAge- 3 replies
- 3.4k views
I've recently switched from phpBB to IPB and one feature I am missing is the ability for users to select their own date/timestamp format. phpBB allows users to specify the exact format that the date/time is displayed in, as used by the PHP date() function. I know there are a few date/timestamp options in the ACP, but these are global settings. I have many foreign users on my boards (I am in the US), and they are disappointed that the ability for them to change this is no longer available. This would make a nice addition to the base IPB forum, especially since many forums will attract members beyond their country's borders. You can change the time zone, which is nice,…

SSI News, Sentence Trim Mod
by Guest Inque187- 1 reply
- 2.8k views
I didn't know if this was classified as a "full" modification, so I posted here. Please forgive me if it is posted in the wrong place. SSI News, Sentence Trim Mod For those folks who are not using the IPB Portal for IPB boards and would still like to show the topics from your "News" forum on a selected page (on main portal) on your website "but" don't want the entire post to be listed on that page - I have hammered out a solution. I myself used the SSI.php file and SSI templates to show the news forum topics on my clan gaming webpage but was a bit dismayed at the inability to "not show the entire post" on the page. With the current SSI setup for showing news topics, …

Date/Timestamps on PM traffic
by Guest Wazoo- 1 reply
- 3.5k views
Discussion at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3972 Use the PM for a running dialog, but the "Date" showing "Today" or "Yesterday" means gyrations involved with keeping track (fistorically) of this data. As the typical configuration icludes an e-mail notification of a new PM, logging in gets you the pop-up notification of a new PM, the "number of unread" counter does change with a new PM, is the "Today/Yesterday" convention needed in the PM display (assume the issue is that same codebase is used to display both PM and Forum data, but ...????) User probably explains it better;

[2.1] View New Posts - Old Method also
by Guest woodus- 3 replies
Will there be a way to do the View New Posts the old way also (maybe as a link at the bottom of the new popup list)? I use Firefox and when I view the new posts link, I just go thru and CTRL-click (or scroll-wheel-click) all the topics I want to read to open them in new tabs, and it is harder to do with the new popup list. Thanks Woodus

Customize emoticons per user..
by Guest Hercules- 0 replies
- 1.7k views
Let's face it -- not everybody wants to have the same types of emoticons in their default set. The option to add/remove emoticons from the default set on a per-user basis would be a really neat addition, and add just a little something extra to a board that already kicks butt!

New forum type?
by Guest Mat-Moo- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
At present we have standard forums, and redirects. A useful one (at least imo) would be to add a custom option, where the board admin can insert PHP code. In effect this would create a TR cell as normal, but with a TD of all the cells linked which would then show the custom code (so we have the totla width of the board for whatever but contained in a cell). This custom code could be anything, banner rotation, google ads etc. even some custom pictures.

[2.1] Rating on an individual post level
by Guest Kyraal- 3 replies
- 2.2k views
To start with, I like the implementation of the rating system. It's a step forward which is going to satisfy a lot of minds out there - including my own. However, what I would like, is the option to rate not only on a topic level, but also the option to vote on individual posts in a topic. Then, the rating hearts shown on the forum page next to the topics in question, would be an average of the total of ratings given to the posts in that particular thread. This opens up - what I know I would find useful - the possibility to take a look at a person's profile and see this individual's average rating - which wouldn't just be based on how good people think his/her's s…

Feature Request
by Guest Andrew S.- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
Hey Matt a feature that I believe would be a good addition to IPB would be if you could set it to where the non-ROOT's can't edit the ROOT Admin accounts in the ACP cause recently on my board then I've had a non-ROOT delete some of my ROOT admins so it would be a good feature to have that way it doesn't manage to happen to anybody else...

BB code menu

A BB code menu like ikonboard uses (DHTML I believe) with images or maybe a drop down menu that would be in keeping with 2.1 I'd also leave the "show all" for those members who need an explanation. IMO and just a thought.
