  16. Happy Hump Day! Sort of… I have a bit of news to share with you: this will be my last Hump Day as I am stepping down from Invision Community. 😢 I am transitioning to a new role at Amazon. I’ll be creating content and engagement solutions for AWS. I’d like to take a moment to thank this community for welcoming me with open arms. When I first started my journey as an Invision Community team member, I focused on community advocacy and connecting clients with the team. We quickly realized my, um... exuberance was better suited in marketing and sales. Creating content around Invision Community opened my eyes even further to how brilliantly crafted this platform is and the team behind it. I've also genuinely enjoyed communicating with industry professionals every day who showed interest in adding a community component to their business. So many incredible Achievements (😏) happened along the way; I’m grateful I was a part of Invision Community’s success as we blazed through the 20-year anniversary. 🎉 Now, you won’t be rid of me entirely. My own community, BreatheHeavy, will still remain on the Invision Community platform. I look forward to staying connected with all of you here! Thank you for engaging and interacting with me these last few years. Please feel free to PM me here if you have any feedback, questions or well wishes. 😃 I want to give a special thanks to @Charles for being my mentor and seeing potential in me (even when I didn't). And before I go, here’s a list of updates and changes made to the platform in the last seven days: Thank you, 🙏 -Jordan

  18. Community moderators have a responsibility to maintain a sense of normalcy and balance within a community. The Invision Community platform includes powerful tools for moderators to help them mitigate issues that may arise. We just enhanced one of them. Our new moderator approval queue feature, available in an upcoming release for all Invision Community clients, arms moderators with more information regarding why an item was sent to the approval queue in the first place. The approval queue is a temporary waiting room for content that can either be approved, denied, hidden or deleted by a community moderator. Sometimes, it’s unclear to a moderator why an item was sent to the approval queue. Our new feature solves that problem by including a reason with every item that needs to be approved. This provides clarity to the moderator in charge of handling items waiting in the wings. There are a bunch of different methods in which an item can be held for approval: Profanity/bad words If a member uses a word you have deemed inappropriate, you may ask the platform via the ‘Word Filter’ option to automatically hold the post for moderator approval. In this example, the word “damn” is included in the Word Filter list. A member attempts to reply with it. Their comment is automatically held for moderator approval along with a reason why. URLs If a member posts a link to a third-party website, you may ask the platform to automatically hold it for moderator approval. Email addresses If a member posts an email address, you may ask the platform to automatically hold it for moderator approval. Reviews If a member posts a review on a digital download or a physical product, you may ask the platform to automatically hold the review for moderator approval. Topics/replies A member, or group of members, must have their posts manually approved by a moderator before they can be seen by the rest of the community. A few other things worth mentioning: The moderator approval queue explanation is compatible with all of our applications (minus the Blog). The Forum and Commerce applications are the only two apps that can be required to have moderator approval at an item level (for example, individual replies within a topic or reviews on a product). This new feature will be available in an upcoming release. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments!

  20. In Invision Community's October Release Live Webinar, we discuss a few key features included in the next platform update. @Charles showcases our new Events application which now features a visually stunning overview page. He also answers a few questions clients submitted to @Olivia Clark, including how to use the app for physical versus online events, what to do if your community doesn't offer many events and more. We also talk about adding support for OpenSearch 2.1, adding application filters for new reports in the Moderator Control Panel's report center, as well as updating Graphql library to 14.11.6. Do you have a question about the October 2022 release? Feel free to ask in this topic. Did you miss the webinar? No worries. We uploaded the video session for you to watch:
