OK, here's where I think we are. The folder is writeable. The one file I commented on above is not in the folder. There are a LOT of other files in the folder, all from today, except the two index files. I should NOT delete anything from this folder, and take a look at the error log over the next few days to see if the issues persist. Does that sound correct?

I know you're trying to help, but I don't think I am understanding. You first suggested deleting all files, then asked if I was using the file system,, then asked is the folder writeable. The folder is writeable, I see files from today.

It's set to 755, should it be 777?

I tried searching but did not see what version of php is recommended for v5.x. I was on 8.0 and having EXIF issues after upgrading, my host said EXIF is working fine and suggested I upgrade to 8.1. I had the same issues with images (different post - already being looked at). In the ACP I see I should be on 8.2 or higher. I updated to 8.2. I can go to 8.4. What is the highest version recommended? Thanks

Thanks, but as you see above, the issue started when I went from v4 to v5. I did not touch php at that time. I asked my host to confirm EXIF was working properly, they said it was and at that point suggested going to php 8.1.

Sorry for not being clear. It was working fine in v4. I update to v5. Many people starting having the issue. I asked my host if EXIF was working, he said yes, and suggested upgrading to php 8.1 to see if that would help. It did not.

I updated to v5 on Friday. Now lots of pics are getting posted upside down. I was on php 8.0.x. My host confirmed EXIF is installed and working properly. When a post is marked as solution, it is moved to the top. That doesn't make sense in the flow of the thread. Is this a setting I can edit? Thanks

Allow us to pick which emoji display, and in which order. The custom emojis I uploaded are 20 x 20px. When posted they are far smaller than that. Allow them to be posted in the uploaded size. Thanks

I added the *, I tried one of my sites, https://www.pathlabtalk.com/forum/, still a white box. I think I need to give up for a while. The site runs, it's just not anywhere near what it used to be. v5 has been very frustrating. Many things moved for no apparent reason, many things were removed, also for no apparent reason. Apps for v4 won't work, understandably, but now it's really hard trying to find the prior authors to see if they are going to update their apps, some tell me they can't because it's no longer possible, or too hard, in v5. This has not been a positive experience.
