Happy Valentines day, here's a gift from us to you!

For those of you not celebrating this weekend, why not check out 5.0.16 Beta 1!

Dog Hello GIFValentines Day Love GIF by Calmlings

This is our monthly updates and improvements release. You can see the full changelog here.

Along with the usual fixes, we've got some notable changes in this release:

  • You can now use profile completion as a trigger for Achievements, awarding points or badges to those who have filled in all of their profile information.

  • Events can now be removed from search when they're in the past. This functionality can be enabled on a per-Calender basis.

  • User accessibility improvements:

    • Updated aria labels, tab index values, form fields and buttons.

    • Updated dialogs to be usable via keyboards (you may notice they're quicker to open, too!).

  • Made more progress removing old unused JavaScript libraries, templates and controllers, helping to reduce the amount of JavaScript we use when loading a page. Watch this space for more in future.

The little bears like this the most, haha. 🙂 Hope there’s as much code cleanup as possible. Thanks!

Beta 2 is here!

Changes since beta 1 include:

#6645 Fix color of summary in Stream Subscriptions in dark emails
#6653 Improved accessibility of Registration form
#6674 Restored large, bold text for dropdown headers
#6678 Fixed visibility of carousel navigation in blocks
#6687 Prevent labels from falling to their own line

I lost profile pictures in the email notifications. ( gmail )

It is not only gmail. We did not change original templates. 5.0.15 was fine but of course it can be something else like Cloudflare.

Im not able to replicate this at all on my end. Checked on both beta 1 and beta 2. Could you please screenshot what you see?

I think that most probable reason is that Cloudflare is blocking email server with managed challenge.

I suspect that may well be the case there. You would need to speak to your hosting provider on this

You can use inspect element in chrome, and go to network tab, and refresh the page. Then you can see the request for the image to see the error code.

It is just google cache. :)

I can not turn off Cloudflare challenge for USA , it is like 99% bots and scrapers.

There are two solutions:

  1. Find out gmail servers and make rule for them in CF

  2. Embed pictures in the emails

For website that i needs USA traffic. I give all datacenter/hosting ASN ranges a cloudflare challange that resides in USA, and leave consumer isps to be able to access it. (ofcouse except google/bing/and some of the ai crawlers, that we want)
That solves about 95% of all bots crawlers.

Use this site to see if ip range is a hosting company, for examle: https://ipinfo.io/85.254.51.106?lookup_source=search-bar

and make rules to challange ASnumbers: (note that not all AS number below are from usa, but also eu datacenter ranges, look up every number with ASnumber on the above website.)
(ip.src.asnum in {132203 55836 132115 60068 11878 46475 14061 216071 46562 136907 58065 400463 21859 200740 14618 395954 21859 24940 203020 212047 18978 213802 36666 55286 136787 17762 139341 139341 55990 27947 396982 212238 20473 207990 29066 19437 45090 22616 55256 45102 16276 51167 399275 206092 213790 51396 14956 197648 53667 36680 400882 43289})
then if some services are still requared from one of those ranges.
Make a AND rule, to exclude some traffic based on path or useragent.

It went smoothly without any problems.

Not sure but something changed with the new version: POSITIVE

First info: 1 million posts, 200000 topics and 100000 members

Few days ago, and before than I ran Google page speed test (I regularly do this) and got this:

Mobile

Core Web Vitals Assessment: Failed

Performance: 88

Accessibility: 91

Best Practices: 99

SEO: 89

Desktop

Core Web Vitals Assessment: Failed

Performance: 89

Accessibility: 93

Best Practices: 99

But today I ran after latest version upgrade: 5.0.16 I got this

Mobile

Core Web Vitals Assessment: Failed

Performance: 92

Accessibility: 96

Best Practices: 100

SEO: 92

Desktop

Core Web Vitals Assessment: Failed

Also Core Web Vitals Assessment failed but new version very close to go green....

Question is why new version makes this much difference?

What changed to affect page loads???????

Note: Numbers are average of multiple tests

@media My forum after the update: 93 performance points on mobile and 96 on desktop.

UI/UX changes and code optimization are key priorities for me. After the update, the forum noticeably sped up, which is great to see.

has been updated smoothly

My two boards updated without any issues. Thanks!

Had one issue with a hook with custom mobile footer, that the side menu / notification / messages could not open anymore.
So i copyed the new template, created the hook again, and added my custom code to it again, and that solved it.

Updated. Thank you, team! 👌

There seems to be an issue with the final 5.0.16 release. When you have an ipsDialog box open, you cannot scroll the site. It removes the scrollbars from the browser window.
