More advanced log-out
by Guest Durden- 1 reply
- 2.1k views
I really would like a more advance logout option. Because when I forget to logout when I'm at a friend or so, the only way to keep my acount save is to change my password again. (or am I missing something.) I would like the folowing: THis is a example of a forum where I come regurlary. You can choose to log off the session you are using right now. Or logout all computers where you are logged in. Or logout all computers, except the one you're using. This will increase security (w00t)

Personal photo restrictions
by Guest Hancoque- 2 replies
- 2.2k views
You can prevent the use of remote URL avatars by disabling it in the ACP. I'd like to see such an option for the personal photo, too. While thinking about that I also thought about the possibility to prevent users from using too large images in signatures. Remote URL images cannot be controlled well, so there may be an option for users to upload a signature image just like they can upload an avatar image or a personal photo. Then you could specify which dimensions such images may have.

Custom Image for "each" Forum (Main Index)
by Guest Frigidman- 5 replies
- 3.1k views
It would be nice to see a feature added to the "settings" edit for each forum, that allows the admin to specify a specific image icon group to be used for the forum in the main index. Currently ALL forums use <#IMG_DIR#>/bf_(somethingrather).gif The setting could be a 'root name' of the image, where "_new" and "_nonew" are tacked on accordingly to if there are or are not any new posts inside. The bf_ icons only display on the main home index, so thats only where this could go. Since it requires some inner coding changes, it is not something I want to alter myself, as upgrading IPB in the future would become a nasty hassle. Tis only a feature request. Nothing…

Better "Lo-Fi" version
by Guest fortierr- 9 replies
- 5.5k views
Hi there One suggestion - perhaps making the Lo-Fi Version of IPB a little more robust? I have a user who is blind and it's difficult for her to navigate the forum. She loves the lo-fi version, but she's only able to read messages, not respond to it unless she views the message in the full version. Either that - or can someone suggest a very plain skin that I could set up for her? Thanks! Rick

Changing avatar size by user group
by Guest Black Prowler- 0 replies
- 2.4k views
I recently set up user groups based on contribution levels on my board. Once someone donates a certain amount they go into the specified group and recieveve the appropriate benifits. One of those is increased avatar size. Now since I have a few different levels I have had to manually change the avatar restrictions for each group by individually editing each member in that group. This is very time consuming. A much needed feature would be the abillity to change avatar size by user group(in addition to individually.) Please consider this feature request for IPB 2.1. Thank you! (ooooops :o ..I thought I was in the right forum..I goofed..someone please…

Delete after reply feature for PMs
by Guest gogoWes- 0 replies
- 1.9k views
I noticed that one big thing when managing alot of PMs would be a Delete After Reply button when replying to PMs. This would eliminate the extra step of deleting the ones you already replied to. Anybody else think this is a good idea? phpBB has it and its a great feature

Simple IPB Portal Upgrade...
by Guest chefelf- 2 replies
- 2.8k views
I would love to see a slightly updated version of IPB Portal: 1.) The ability to select any post from any forum (with a simple checkbox?) to appear on the portal main page. 2.) Assign IPB Portal permissions to a user or group? This would help me out with my site in so many ways. I could assign privileges to whatever "authors" I wanted to be able to post "articles" effectively on my site's main page. How hard would this be to implement? It seems simple enough. I've been looking for a solution for this for a long time to expand the usability of IPB Portal. Thanks! :)

force new members to read forum rules before
by Guest pk62004- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
I dont know if these features are already in place, and if so I apologize. I didn't see it in my acp. I'd like to have a feature where it would force all new members to read the forum rules before they post. Perhaps have it so once they click on the validation link in their email, it will redirect them to the forum guidelines and make them stay there for x_amount of time. Another feature I'd like to see is perhaps to set # of days for new members to be registered before they are allow posting rights. thanks for listening.

Profile/Registration/Agreement Improvements
by Guest Myr- 7 replies
- 3.1k views
1) I'd like better control over all the profile fields for registration. For example, I want to require people to enter a birthday. I know I can add a custom profile field for birthday, but why have it twice? So, complete control over each profile field (like location, YIM,AIM, MSN, etc) on whether it is on, off or required. 2) I'd like the option to force people to click on the agreement button if I change the board agreement rules. This would be handy if there was a rule change that you want everyone to be aware of. (whether or not they read it is up to them, but the admin is no longer responsible because people were told.) (by the way, both these features were…

pre-set avatar
by Guest S!C- 2 replies
- 2.4k views
I dunno if there's a mod for this, but I doubt it now what I think about is that when ppl sign up to the forums they have an pre-set avatar that has been chosen for all new sign ups by the amdin, so even before changing anything in their avatar options they have that avatar, it could be like a site logo the forums are affiliated with... and additional the admin could chose a number of post or member group a member has to have achieved before changing his avatar to one of the gallerys or a custom one... what you think?

Anonymous Posting Forum
by Guest Keven Fox- 0 replies
- 1.9k views
Not sure if I suggested this before, but I've found this to be a great way to do many things: 1. It allows someone to post topics, to which staff can post elsewhere and make anonymous. 2. It allows people to post, only themselves and staff can see the post, which is also good for reporting things or voicing concerns about the site. I've seen a site which uses this but it's VB so there is no known modification for it on IPB that I know of.

Hide BB code area when BB code is disabled
by Guest Hancoque- 4 replies
- 3.3k views
I recently disabled BB code for PMs. I noticed that the BB code buttons and pulldown menus are still shown although they are useless. It would also confuse users because they don't know BB code is disabled and wonder why their tags don't work. They may even file a bug report. So it would be great if all BB code stuff is hidden if it cannot be used.

A few suggestions for 2.1.
by Guest Quillz- 0 replies
- 1.7k views
After reading up a bit on IPB 2.1, I thought I would put in my own two cents with just a few "suggestions" that I think could benefit IPB... The ability to color usernames in posts. vB has it, so why can't IPB? IMO, this is a useful feature for quickly being able to distinguish registered users from management. And seeing as IPB already allows for colored usernames in the Users Online table, it would be a nice complement to have it in the posts, as well. The ability to move the mini-profile around. I'm sure this can be done through source code modification, but I thought this would be a "neat" feature in the Admin CP. When in the Skin Manager, under General Settings, …

2.1 Suggestions
by Guest marcele- 12 replies

Security: 1. Right now all logins are done clear text. Should use javascript md5 hash / seed solution or at least have the option of setting up ssl based logins. (You wouldn't want to be logging in as root via telnet .. why do we allow this with IPB?). 2. Get rid of the "forgot password" feature for admin group accounts. That's like having a "reset root server password" via email ... just not a good idea.. Upload Management: File uploads should NOT be stored all in one directory. Also all the uploads should use the same upload system that the IPB gallery does where you can set a number of files per directory / and if it goes over that number it will create a new d…

I'd love to be able to pull up a page which would tell me what the 10 most popular threads (by visitors or members) were; this'd be incredibally useful when trying to track down exactly where members are headed / being linked to.
