We have a bumper beta for you to test out. This is probably one of the biggest updates since v5.0 was released, so perhaps approach this one with a touch more caution. We didn't, we upgraded our site straight away but we also have ✨backups✨ and strongly suggest you do too.

Along with a large increase in REST/webhooks, we also have a whole bucket load of fixes and some new features which include:

• New: Quests

• Advert management improvements

• PWA improvements

• Pages rollback feature

I’ve just added another Quest - the one Mike showed off in his video where you rack up points through regular activity. This one’s really cool. It’s simple, it runs in the background, and it genuinely rewards people for being active in meaningful ways.

What I love most about this is how flexible it all is. The possibilities with Quests are endless. You can guide the direction of your community, encourage specific behaviors, and make it fun for people to get involved - all without it feeling forced.

Honestly, well done to the Invision team. Can’t say it enough - this is the most excited I’ve been about community features in years. 👏

That's a stilly statement, absolute rubbish to make that claim. Personally I have zero plans to move to Cloud and will resist it for as long as I can. It's often slow, unreliable and is overpriced.

Still I can see both sides, for and against. It's good there are various tiers available for Cloud customers, that makes a lot of sense for all concerned, but it can also be argued that a lot of these features are basically bloatware if you don't need, want or often use them, so the tiers provide more choice. Clients paying a higher price for Cloud should benefit from new features.

Sometimes it can seem that new Cloud-only features are taking precendent, especially when you see a big announcement, get excited, then reach the small print to find out its Cloud only. The seceret is to scroll down to the small print first to avoid dissapointment! Self-hosted have still received some new features though.

IPS spends much time developing new things when the basics of IC5 are still not working though (after coming up to 10 full stable releases). The IC5 documentation is lacking and disorganised; I think there should have been some team tasking to make sure it is brought up to date by now, and we're still waiting on the announcements of Commerce's new features, after it was stripped out for IC5?

Any downtime is frustrating and lives long in the memory but in context it's a tiny amount. Our uptime so far this year is 99.9947%.

We have a lot of internal alerts that trigger when any anomalies are detected. We also have multiple clusters so it's unlikely that everything is down at one time. This site is used as a beta testing area also, which can have consequences now and again that won't affect any other cloud site.

I do not want to hijack this thread about this topic but It's not silly once you have first-hand experience of the Cloud version.

We have one of the largest Invision sites out there and have been on the Cloud version for 7+ months.

It is not overpriced. Once you factor in all the costs associated with self hosting, it will be cheaper on the Cloud plan . If you are self hosted you need to add : Server costs, bandwidth , Cloudflare, server maintenance (Webmaster), etc ..
Unless you have a site with very little traffic that can run on a ultra cheap server, the Cloud solution will be cheaper.

It is not slow. Speed is about the same for users with IPS 5. for us, the ACP is a bit slower, yes, but we had a $25K beast server. For users, I do not see the difference.

It is not 'unreliable'. They use the AWS platform, it very stable. Sure, a sporadic slow down can happen, but no more than on a self hosted situations,

Great Support. Invision has great tech support. Since they have people in both the UK and the US, they cover several time zones. I have received answers at 3am (for us).

for the record, I do not work for Invision, I am just a regular customer like you. But I have been very impressed by version 5 so far, even though we are sometimes frustrated by small missing parts and small bugs. These small issues are greatly overshadowed by the overall quality of v5.

Cloud isn't just a VPS though. It's a lot of services and micro services tied together with custom glue.

5.0.10 Beta 2 is on its way to Cloud®

This is just a little update that fixes the following:

• Unable to use the Page Editor on some Pages build pages

• Unable to edit club forums

Beta 3 is on it's way

This brings a few fixes and improvements to the PWA/web app.

Beta 4 is on its way!

There is only one tiny change and that is to fix the issue with PWA splash screens. After upgrading, head into your AdminCP and re-upload a new splash screen image (ACP > Settings > Web App). Then delete any installed PWA on your phone, then re-add it.

5.0.10 "Final" is now out!

This release fixes the following issues since the last beta:

• The new PWA installation instructions were not showing when using a tablet

• Header and footer advertisement placements were not working

Yes, you can post issues in the support forums. We no longer need the tracker as it's easier to move directly from the forums to a support ticket or into GitHub for our devs to review.
