Is there an option to revert the styling to the old style? I find this buries a lot, add’s long scrolling, etc…. in short adds overhead to discovery for forums with, lots of forums. Example below 2 forums take the whole screen.

Were any analytics done to examine if this increases or decreases page views and actions (posts, engagement time, etc.) or does it just look nicer? Hopefully there is analytics data behind this? Btw it’s pretty — just wanting to look at this from $$ and cents from a business and community perspective.

Yes, you can use the theme editor to change the layout.

For this site, you can change the layout via account settings.

In case some users still cannot find it, you can change the forum index view by clicking your Display Name → click the + sign next to Settings Area → Account Settings → Content Preferences → enable Change layout views and pick your preferred Forum Index View.

If users cant find it from Matts direct link, its unlikely they ever will lol

I didn’t even click the link! My bad. 😅

Where do you enable this option, its not visible on my site, I’ve searched all the wrong places on my test v4.7 upgraded to v5 😕

I'm thankful to see this, it's a great touch. I do miss the toggle option on the index, but again, hopefully someone can pick this up - @DawPi. 😉

Provided there's a hook for it. 🙏🏻

Hi @Richard Arch,

Click your display name → Theme Editor → Page Layouts → Forum Index and select your preferred layout. The list should contain Table, Grid, Fluid and Feed.

Thanks for the feedback. We have over 30 forums on the main index. While this is beautiful it would be unwieldy for us. Glad there appears to be an option to default to the classic layout for everyone.

Thanks @Gary

That seems to be an option for the whole site, did I find the right place?

On here the Member has an option to change it from their Content Preferences but not on my site as below.

To make a change for your whole site, that is exactly where to change it.

If you want your members to have the option of changing it themselves, then you would have to enable this function for the member group/s.

AdminCP → Members → Groups → edit the relevant groups by clicking the pencil icon → Group Settings → Permissions → enable Can change layouts

They will then be able to edit the layout of your site’s forum index view by clicking their Display Name → click the + sign next to Settings Area → Account Settings → Content Preferences → enable Change layout views and pick the preferred Forum Index View.

Glad you got it sorted. Always happy to help. 😉
