5.0.17 is now available!
It is still unclear to me if I will get sadly surprised after upgrader from v4 to v5. My doubts are if I will find out any limits regarding features or possibilities. I prefer and I am partly forced to use self-hosted version. V4 gave freedom, is v5 still like this?

I personally preferred when IPS products/features were offered as one solid block, not split among different tiers.

Marketplace Closure
To be honest, I wonder why IPS did not leave marketplace as platform for sellers and instead closure could introduce e.g. monthly, constant payments, then instead taking money directly, could allow seller to define the target payment method. I use my Commerce this way, so when buyer comes to purchase something he sees who he buys from (exact details) and this way I am responsible for nothing, except colleting money for using the platform. My only guess is that IPS wanted to get a rid of all custom apps/plugins before IPSv5

Marketplace Closure
@Lindy There is plenty of changes you, IPS, introduced recently. Some are scary, some leave a room for fear of what next.. I could read you say you are about to improve providers directory.. however.. for years there is area of your community that remains same for years.. feedback/suggestions. Are you going to take closer look on improvement on that area, so you implement more requested features in much higher frequency than it was till now? That could be great equivalent/replacement for retired Marketplace.

A sneak peek...
From what I hear from my USA friends, there is no more thing as American Dream. It is nearly impossible to get to the top (getting rich) from the bottom as in past. From what I have been told, USA became a country for already rich people. That means you had a fail on designing the product/service model, as you did not consider this. I believe that amount of work required to make it work now may be huge, therefore costs. I believe that minimum 80% of self-hosted solutions would get such service, as they would be forced to by needs of current market/communities.

A sneak peek...
You must understand it is a beginning of time of end of regular forums life. Any company nowadays, I would like to say "wants to" but it is rather "is forced to" go into your independence and slowly take pieces of it away - doesn't it sound like "Government"? 😅 This happens by building subscription based platforms/apps where you can only pay to use some service. If IPS won't be doing that then I assume they would close in not longer than 10 years from now. This is because of apps like Discord, platforms like TikTok that took over all the rest, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, that also create a space for communities, discussions, etc. Current population wants quick and rich content without minimum effort requiring using their brain. So, what you see is a process of transforming IPS into platform based service only. One day, very likely, they will stop selling self-hosted solutions - unfortunately. However, for IPS, I see a possibility to gather extra money from existing self hosting solution. Making a bridge/connection to cloud services and allow them to use on self-hosted solution on subscription basis, cuz why not? Any extra money are good money.

Hump Day: saying farewell to Invision Community OG, Rikki
@Rikki, Nobody asked you directly and this is most important part I believe. Assuming there was no internal fight about what should be leading color of main IPS theme; what are you going to do now? new project? new company? new wife.. pff I meant life? 😅

Hump Day: 4.6.11 Beta 1 is out + happy birthdays
@OptimusBain, maybe we just push them too much and they simply "avoid" it? 😄 Telling that from own experience, I also do not like "pain is the ass" customers, however sometimes must become "the pain" myself.

Please IPS, make sure every maintenance update contains fixed ALL Commerce issues reported earlier. This is product used commercially, it should have "no" known issues unresolved for long.
